Immediate thoughts: a fan might be hitting something, does the scratching get louder/faster as the fans pick up?
Would you describe it as a clicking sound? If you have a spinning disc hard drive the drive might be failing.

Day going soooooo fucking sloooooow aaaaaaaaaa
librePhoenix's NixOS playlist is a great starting point imo. It's been a while since I went through it so I don't remember how much of it applies to using nix on a different distro but I imagine the home-manager video should still be relevant.
I'd also recommend jumping straight into flakes, it's what most people use so there's more resources and you may find that the only way to get something you want is through a flake, which is no big deal if you're already using them.
Vimjoyer also makes good videos but I occasionally found myself lost trying to follow along, which was never the case with librePhoenix. That could just be because I've got no programming knowledge though.
If you already have a functional arch install I'd start with setting up home-manager there. That way you can tinker and get your home environment the way you like before even installing NixOS.
Boss approved my time off so my Christmas present to myself is getting sterilized before they have a chance to make it illegal.
Help I'm trapped in a meeting that I don't think has anything to do with me
Could probably make this it's own post and then have it linked to in every general mega tbh
Boss spooked me by pulling me into a group chat with her and her boss, and then just told me I'm doing a good job and to keep it up. Didn't need that adrenaline spike today tbh
I was already pretty sold on nix due to the config files basically forcing me to self document changes, and the rollbacks saving me when I inevitably screwed something up, but getting a chance to see it actually work and totally recreate my system was very cool. So far anything I want to change has been in the nixos options, or home-manager options, or someone's made a flake for it that I can just pull in so I haven't had to get too deep, which is great for me because I'm a dumbass who barely knows what they're doing
The drive my NixOS install was on started failing, so I bought a new one and reinstalled. Literally spent more time trying to get the new drive in than I did getting Nix up and running again.
Was just someone spamming JOHN KERRY over and over, posts, comments. With his face to go with it.
Getting home from work and seeing the new person trump is putting in a position of power is reminding me of that summer a couple years back, I'd get in to work and see the evil shit the supreme court was doing basically every day.
