And when you're one paycheck away from living on the streets and the threat of state sanctioned violence or detention could get you fired.
This is important for the moth because he can't give verbal praise.

Excited to see where they go in the future.

The problem there is a court order is enforced under threat of punishment. One is going to be less likely to seek help if they're subject to physical or sexual abuse if the mere mention of it could land them in legal trouble. Similarly, folks are less likely to seek help in overdose situations under threat of legal consequences.
It helps because if they know they aren't going to be imprisoned for it, they're more likely to seek help in situations that involve drugs. Getting people to quit drugs requires trust and social outreach. Decriminalization is about making sure that drug users aren't further stigmatized and abused, and thus more able to accept support.

I felt a deep longing to experience femininity, but I couldn’t bring myself to wear a dress or put on makeup or anything because that was way too scary and thinking about my body was so distressing. Instead, I tried to experience femininity vicariously through my partners. That ended up with me in a lot of deeply codependent relationships, as well as being irrationally upset if they wanted to cut their hair, present more masc, etc.
One of the things that had me realizing that I might need to look a bit harder at the possibility of being trans is, I had a growing wishlist of clothes for my wife... And a secondary wishlist for things that weren't her style or that she'd shot down, but I still liked. Both lists were far longer than clothes for me.
The part that scares me in this is that it's only a story because the girl wasn't actually trans.
Why do that when we can intentionally lead them slightly over the border, void their citizenship, and then tell them they have to sit in a detention center until they can be processed.
