Democrats don't like that and would prefer Republicans not do it, but most of them won't do anything to stop it as long as they're not forced to watch it happen and can pretend it's not happening.

That doesn't sound like the Democrats I know! They would post a comment on social media about how sad they are about it and then say "vote blue, no matter who!" before defending some softer form of transphobia as a middle ground.

Turn it around on them. Make them show you their genitals before they go in the bathroom. Then have them arrested for showing you their genitals.

Yes, I see no ways that a trans person asking to see peoples' genitals in a public restroom in a jurisdiction that is hostile to trans people could backfire.

The thing that scares me about these laws is it serves as a blanket permission to use the power of the state to harass anyone who is gender nonconforming for simply going to the bathroom.

Edit: And having to know the patchwork of discriminatory laws for anywhere I have to go in the country I live in is tiring as hell too.

and the name changes get very lost on all the public bids, foreclosures, and what not.

It is filterable.

If you want to argue name changes are public, they should be placed in a publicly searchable database.

You mean like this?

That is the wording they often use on injunctions. As there has not been a full trial they like to keep it as "likely".

Did you bother following any links in the article? They have a link to the bill, explaining exactly what they're banning, as well as another explaining in detail what gender affirming care is.

I like the enthusiasm, but minors are not generally in a position to up and relocate. Supportive families are increasingly finding themselves needing to move out of hostile states. Most of us are holding our breath for national elections to determine if we need to flee the country.

Just because you're into destroying unjust hierarchies doesn't mean you can't be a bottom.

Having been involved in entirely too many of these hearings, we're not really appealing to the GOP legislators but to the general public. There is no magic set of words I'm going to say that's going to convince the folks that are hanging out with the Family Policy Alliance team that drafted the bill. If I go in there and tell them my unvarnished opinion, I get my mic cut and removed, and the folks pushing the bill have an immediate example of an "unhinged" trans person.

Maybe he just watched Biodome with Pauly Shore?

Maybe we can collectively have all the states kick both Biden and Trump off the primary?
