I haven't looked into unifiedpush too deeply. From what I can tell, it isn't exactly what most people are looking for. It sounds like it would take a bit of knowledge and effort to use for apps that don't explicitly support it.

I'm curious to see what anyone else has to say. I've been wondering if there's an "easy" solution to notifications I just don't know about.

Looking at the rules, there's nothing explicitly wrong anyway. It would be silly if there were imo. Political discussion is part of politics, and equating political news articles with the whole of politics is inadvertently disingenuous. But I can be fairly pedantic sometimes.
