Measures like Google Family Link already exist if parents choose to use them.
I don't think legislation restricting what young people can do online would necessarily help. It's illegal for kids to take drugs and drink alcohol yet it still happens. Whatever measures are put in place, there's usually a way around.

They intentionally removed this feature years ago. It was possible to reenable via a dconf setting for a while but I believe that was also eventually removed.
So annoying.

The M25 is a motorway (70mph highway/Interstate) which circles around London. It's illegal to ride bikes on any motorway, and there are no bike lanes on motorways, nor should there be. And I say that as a cyclist.

In this case, there is no good reason a cyclist should be on the M25 - there's almost definitely a quicker and calmer way to get to where you need to, without bypassing around London.

Where are you getting your figures from?

Yeah, this isn't that bad. It's just a suggestion after running an apt upgrade. NPM has similar plugs which I don't find too annoying.

In fact its not even as intrusive as NPM's funding requests, as it is only 2 lines of text, plus it looks like Ubuntu Pro is free for personal use.

I'm on the fence about all this. In a utopia, a ceasefire would be ideal of course, but Israel aren't going to listen to suggestions like that, especially when they believe that a ceasefire would be a risk for them in terms of allowing Hamas to regroup. Whether that is a real risk I don't know, but either way I can't see a ceasefire happening in the immediate future until Israel have completed their objectives, regardless of what pressure comes from the UK.

The "humanitarian pauses" do make sense to me, as it would save lives whilst allowing Israel to keep their tactical advantage over Hamas.

But it seems Israel won't even do the bare minimum of a pause in bombing civilians, so what chance do we have of a ceasefire?

I understand the principled side of standing up for a ceasefire even if it seems unlikely, but the government's (and Keir's) POV does also make a kind of sense, to save Palestinian lives in a way that Israel is more likely to agree to.

Here's the sequel after they realised there were scientific inaccuracies in the original

The difference between Braverman and a pantomime villain is that she actually has the power to make this stuff happen. It remains to be seen if these are just empty words, but it's definitely worth reporting that a government minister intends to start putting people in prison for being destitute.

Their mindset is "Fossil fuels are still needed now, and if my company doesn't grab them, someone else will" and it's just so easy to continue getting those short term profits for their shareholders.

They may have long term plans for investment in renewables, but they won't enact them until forced to (by government or market conditions). I imagine oil costs (and therefore profits) will skyrocket as it becomes more scarce, and they'd want to ride that all the way to the bank (and hell) before pivoting.

Basically, capitalism will be capitalism - its only moral is money. The only way is to have governments worldwide force them to change, and that ain't gonna happen.

Ahh, you're American - the UK system, which this article is referring to, will be different. There is talk of banning disposables for environmental reasons and ease of kids getting hold of them, but the government over here are currently looking into the best options.

The government certainly won't want to ban vapes entirely, as they help people quit smoking, so they take pressure off the health service.

I use touchpad to look and spin around quickly, but gyro to make small aiming adjustments.

Christ, chill with the venom. Fair enough, you like those flavours, but there are ways to avoid marketing them as desirable to children.
