300-400m isn't a very easy shot. Thomas Matthew Crooks had the wrong tool for the job as his cheap Palmetto State AR had variation of 5in at 140yds, so he could have had perfect aim and it wouldn't have mattered. That said, this is why you shoot for the CoM.

How often do they just discard write ins? It seems like they just wouldn't count them most of the time.
