Please ban animated avatar images. They drive me fucking nuts. Its so so obnoxious. Every post that has one is inherently annoying and makes me dislike the accounts/people associated with them. Its so rude.
IMHO news mega sucks the most of all of them. I would like to see posts about news because then I can more easily know what's happening in the world. News mega obscures a lot and everyone talking in shorthand I don't understand.
And if you visit c/news it is a big collection of old pinned posts. Can only assume that is some kind of joke.
Semi colon can replace a period; that's how I remember it being anyway.
FLAIR for users and for posts were a great reddit feature that is sorely missed on Lemmy.

What really?
Fail to plan, plan to fail.
Not quite a chat, because those move a lot faster. And there is internal threading more so in the megas for people to reply to each other. I'd prefer a mega to a chat.
I think its microblogging. But not sure it would be technically trivial to integrate a feature like that into the site.

they are stupid, yet people love them, so I am wrong I guess.

Even though everything is arguably recorded here, is anybody taking minutes?
This is one reason that whole situ doesn't make sense to me.
Ppl just saying shit and maybe it makes sense in some context I don't have.
but literally hypertext links are the whole concept of the World Wide (WWW). Why not just provide them?
Hey that's true I never noticed it applied to avis as well! Thanks. :) If only I could apply this to the whole internet.
In the old days (Netscape Navigator) you could press

to stop animations on a page. This feature has been taken away from modern web browsers and there is no way to prevent animations from loading/playing that I have found. I tried to write a user style, find a browser extension, whatever, but it's impossible as far as I can tell. Especially if you would like to be able to selectively play some animations on an opt-in basis.Although I did just now have a flash of brilliance and figure out a solution that appears works in this context only. Create a ublock origin rule for the specific user avis that have animations. Since there isn't that many of them it shouldn't be too much trouble to do it manually.
In a round about way, complaining has worked.
