Yeah, but fashion hasn't evolved much because she didn't look out of place (I was just surprised to see it) among everyone else; plenty of people still rock baggier fits. Whereas you'd stick out like a sore thumb if you dressed like that in the 50s. You could warp your average person back to 1996 and nobody would notice. And if you warped someone from 1996 to the future they'd probably be surprised and disappointed how everything is the fucking same in contrast to the future of the 2000s that we were promised through media. Nobody in the present would peg them as a time traveler. That's for sure.

Everything that exists now has either not changed much, or is just sleeker, more powerful, or higher fidelity; From fashion, to cars, to televisions, to video games, to computers, to movies and tv shows. Most of the same brands still exist. Nothing has changed that drastically that should cause any person to consider shit from the 90s to be 'dated' other than some cultural attitudes.

That'd be like a 90s teen knowing about Dragnet if you're just going in terms of years. But at the same time, there isn't as large a gap in culture/aesthetics between the 90s and modern day as there was between the 50s and the 90s.

It's very weird to me that people consider things dated. Like, if you turn on 10 Things I hate About you and then go to the mall in 2024 teenagers dress the same lol. I saw some girl at Aldi the other day that made me do a triple take because she was dressed so Y2K that she looked like she had accidentally entered a rift in space/time on her way to a warehouse rave in 1999.

why did i click into any of those lol

love this comment tho

[โ€“]nogoodnamesleft426 44 points 2 days ago* This didn't happen in SF, but i remember sometime 10-12 years ago, i was in Mountain View and saw an RV parked on the street next to a DIY car wash, and there was a long orange extension cord plugged into an outlet on the car wash property with the other end of the extension cord leading into the RV.

The owner/driver of the RV was so blatantly siphoning electricity that i called the non-emergency number of the police department to report it. I did wait around to see that they sent two officers to talk to the RV owner, but i ended up leaving before i could see if they made him unplug his cord or not.

I understand completely the plight of some of the RV folks who are truly struggling and who work around here and genuintely need help. But regardless of if that's the case or not, i have ZERO sympathy for things like siphoning electricity or gas, leaving garbage and in general causing trouble. If the police need to come down hard on those people, so be it.

Edit: why TF am i being downvoted? Can anyone explain what is so bad/wrong about my comment? You really think it's okay for someone to just steal someone else's electricity like that? Who the hell do you think has to pay the electrical bill every month??

WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU NARC ON SOMEONE STEALING ELECTRICITY FROM A RANDOM CARWASH. bunch of fucking losers. seriously.

no. i've been to dozens of psychologists/psychiatrists since i was 12 and none of them helped me. the most useful one was the one who diagnosed me with ocd in my 30s, but that was 100% based on me admitting i had 'obsessive thoughts,' which could have stemmed from any number of disorders (i also had cpstd which i diagnosed myself lol).

then, when i did get a formal diagnosis i went to several after that and none of them mentioned CBT or ERP-- i learned about them on reddit. i ended up fixing my problems on my own.

all that professional help and i had to bootstrap my own therapy. fuckers were so useless i couldn't even get legit benzo prescriptions even though my anxiety was so bad i couldn't work (would have ended up homeless several times if it hadn't been for family).

it's funny they're trying to gaslight when everything is blatantly more expensive/difficult/annoying than it was even 10 years ago. the america of 2024 makes the america of the 90s look like a paradise. shit is so bad that if you're on the lower end of the socio-economic ladder and on the verge of homelessness, good luck even finding an affordable 20 year old hoopty to sleep in. vans are a luxury.

& if you want to try CBD buy from these guys and make your own oil (look up a howto on reddit or somewhere; it's simple) : https://gildedextracts.com/99-cbd-isolate/ don't waste your money on gummies.

The CBD space is incredibly grifty. Even reputable sellers like Lazarus Naturals will charge $20+ for a bottle of CBD oil that you can make yourself for $2. But if you walk into your local CBD store or gas station expect to be grifted way harder. One time I really wanted to try this strain of CBDv flower (Forbidden V) so I went to a CBD shop in the area and they wanted $10 a gram. A few days later I bought an entire 1/2 pound from a farm that was running a clearance sale for $20 (lol).

It's actually fucking criminal how much people get ripped off.

But I've had the best results from smoking flower or making my own oil with isolate. It definitely has a calming/anti-inflammatory effect. I'd suspect a lot of people who try it are looking for a high they aren't going to find or buying trash products.

those were all put into place pre covid though.

and unless i'm missing something in that article, they're all white countries other than hong kong. might as well be 'the west.'

what's your point? my point was that positive vibes were happening all over. america is full of drama queens.

dreamweb is really cool if you like point and click adventures.

Jarred salsa barely has any nutritional value if the back of the label is to be believed so I'd say no. Like, black beans should have a ton of potassium in them but if you buy black bean and corn salsa it'll have very little potassium so I'd assume any of the other nutrients like vitamin A that aren't required to be on the label are also lacking.

But it tastes good so who cares.
