During Biden's campaign in 2020, he promised "there will not be another foot of wall constructed in my administration." But then he waived two dozen laws to continue constructien on the border wall, including the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act and other environmental protections. [pbs]

Biden maintained Trump’s Title 42 policy, which expelled asylum seekers under the pretext of protecting public health, for more than two years after taking office, even as the ACLU was suing to put an end to the policy.

He also chose to adopt a reworked version of another Trump immigration policy innovation, prompting more lawsuits:

The Biden administration has instituted its version of Trump’s asylum transit ban. That rule allows immigration enforcement officials to turn away migrants for a number of reasons: if they do not have valid travel and identification documents, if they’ve traveled through another country without applying for asylum, if they don’t show up at a port of entry at an appointed time, and more. It's not just Jewish lobbyists. Arguably more important is the Zionist Christian fundamentalists in the US who think they are hastening the rapture and the apocalypse.

Just let them slowly cook in the global oven that our industrial consumerist society has created?

The button on the right must be hidden under a panel or something. I don't think they know it exists.

I voted for Hillary in 2016 and Biden in 2020. I was arrested at a Trump protest and shot by a wooden bullet at a George Floyd protest. I've volunteered in local political initiatives to make our local government more progressive and more accountable to voters.

You know nothing about me, so you just make up things that you think discredits me? What have you done other than punch left on Lemmy?

That's a lot of words to conceed that I've never endorsed Trump.

I wish I could say I'm sorry that you're mad that I'm mad at Biden for the gencide, but the truth is I just don't care.

I've said on here that I liked Biden before he turned genocidal.

Well, I'm sure you know the law better than the judge who ordered them to improve conditions.

Two months ago I wrote:

Bernie is a Zionist. What are you talking about? Yes, he eventually called for a ceasefire (as late as Dec. 10 he refused to call for a permanent ceasefire), but he’s never said anything remotely anti-Zionist. He’s repeatedly declared Israel’s right to defend it’s settler-colonial apartheid self.

He’s also campaigning for Biden while Biden actively ships 2,000 lb bombs to Israel to use in Gaza.

Bernie isn’t progressive. He’s betrayed the people and children of Gaza, supporting one of the chief defenders and supporters of their genocide.

During a presidential debate in the same year in Atlanta, Sanders embarked on another contradiction: “It is no longer good enough for us to be pro-Israel, I am pro-Israel, but we must treat the Palestinians with the dignity they deserve.” Being pro-Israel is being pro-colonialism, for the simple reason that Israel is a colonial enterprise that thrives upon the dispossession of the Palestinian people.

Link to a single comment then. You won't because it doesn't exist.

"Israel's been doing this for 76 years!" isn't the comeback you think it is. Nor is, "Oh, genocide is where you draw the line?"

Sorry, I thought we were asking dumb rhetorical questions we already know the answer to.

The Jewish Institute for National Security of America, or JINSA, announced last week that Gen. Frank McKenzie, who led CENTCOM from 2019 to April 2022, would become the Hertog Distinguished Fellow at JINSA’s Gemunder Center for Defense and Strategy.

The Biden administration’s policy on Gaza has been widely criticised as being in disarray as the defense secretary described the situation as a “humanitarian catastrophe” the day after the state department declared Israel to be in compliance with international humanitarian law.

Washington was also on the defensive on Tuesday over its claim that a UN security council ceasefire resolution on which it abstained was non-binding, an interpretation that put the US at odds with other member states, international legal scholars and the UN itself.

“We've had ongoing assessments of Israel's compliance with international humanitarian law,” Miller added. “We have not found them to be in violation, either when it comes to the conduct of the war or the provision of humanitarian assistance. We view those assurances through that ongoing work we have done.”
