I've done it once or twice in the early days to see what was up, never since then.

I read this article and my main takeaway was: that Bling Bling song sucks.

How many turn signals do we think are going to be used during this convoy?

Whether it be to do your job, get your schoolwork done, clean your house, work on your creative passion, etc.

Bonus points if you're someone without reasonable self-control so saying something like "I can only have a cookie after I do this/while I do this" doesn't work for you and you're just going to eat the cookie and not do it.

I'm always telling people to REALLY watch Napoleon Dynamite. I think it got quoted and proto-memed to death when it came out, leading to most people having an unfair idea in their head of what the movie is.

The soundtrack is phenomenal. The acting is (mostly) way better than you may have thought it was. Jon Gries (Uncle Rico) was nominated for an Independent Spirit award and he absolutely deserved that nomination. The cinematography is excellent, especially knowing how much it cost to make + how much experience the crew had. Though it's not explicitly said, I think it's ultimately a story about neurodivergent people finding friendship, solidarity, and happiness in a world not made for them.

Also, the scene where Uncle Rico throws a steak at Napoleon is still funny.

It was to me too, had to go looking - guessing this from Wikipedia is what it was:

Kiedis acknowledges in his autobiography Scar Tissue that he had sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl when he was 23, before and after learning of her age, in the 1980s. This inspired him to write the song "Catholic School Girls Rule".

Read the title, thought "oh, the first nations folks are gonna be PISSED" and was pleased to find out it was their idea.

Doing some research on things that I will absolutely never do. Let's say a nefarious party wanted to download a video from Youtube, say, an episode of the TV show Community. The downloaders I have researched for Linux (Youtube Downloader Plus + Parabolic) will not let me download any episodes that have DRM. Are there any that DO let you do so, preferably while removing the DRM so it could be used on Jellyfish or Plex?

Do April Fools jokes count? I was bereft after reading an article 13+ years ago from a trustworthy gaming site that said Armor Games (a popular flash game dev at the time) was taking over all development for the Elder Scrolls games.

(In retrospect, maybe that wouldn't have been the worst thing after Skyrim came out)

Sadly, there's not a singular ethical Amazon replacement out there. You've got alternatives like Walmart and Target but I don't think they rate much higher than Amazon, honestly. I'll throw out Grove Collaborative for cleaning supplies/home things/toiletries, Thrive Market for foods (though they have a membership fee), Kindhumans and Uncommon Goods for a wide variety of things. Here's a list of some more places that might be useful - bearing in mind there is no one panacea.

Mostly agree, but a lot of thrift stores in the US have gotten significantly more expensive and lower quality over the past 10-20 years. You can blame resellers (like vintage stores) for at least the second part of that, but also fast fashion in general.

I grew up on forums / IRC / IMs, later transitioned to Myspace, then Twitter / Facebook / Tumblr / Instagram. I had a lot of fun over the years, it definitely saddens me that I can't get the things I liked about those experiences back.

If you've got a Micro Center near you, that's the way to go. They may not be small but they're definitely not Best Buy and their selection is typically great, barring any industry-wide shortages.

Hey all,

Just curious - what are the news outlets you like? Obviously not thinking about the paper being struck right now. Is there much of a difference in quality/trustworthiness of the TV news stations?

Otherwise, I've been checking our PublicSource and Pittsburgh Union Progress.

Hi all. My partner saw online about Costco having big packs of Morningstar Farms Chik Patties/Grillers/etc. but we haven't been able to find it at our local Costco in Pittsburgh. Wondering if this a regional thing or if it might be an equivalent to Aldi's "Special Finds"? Any input would be appreciated!

Hey y'all, allow me to be the first to do an "asking for advice" post on here. Anyone have recommendations for realtors that are based in/specifically focus on the City of Pittsburgh? I feel like I've seen way too many who are like "Pittsburgh Realtor!!! Based in Cranberry Township (or other far out suburb/exurb)" and that I want to avoid that hassle. We have to live inside the city limits due to my partner's job with the city (and honestly, we'd probably be living in the city anyways). Looking primarily at neighborhoods in the South Side with good public transit options.

Any advice is appreciated!
