Simple Mobile Tools have been forked by one of the maintainers. They have released the Gallery and File Manager so far. Check out their github : https://github.com/FossifyOrg

Anything by Dostoevsky is so "wintery", probably Russian lit in general.

Well, they actually warned and desuaded Israel from a greater conflict. The tone they used was more direct, and harsher than anything they said when Israel is killing thousand of children.

In Huawei at least, you don't have the ability to install a custom ROM. They don't allow you to unlock the bootloader.

Well, for example the US immediately scrambled to talk to Lebanon and work to actually avoid a war in Lebanon. They can immediately put pressure when they want to. The idea that they are helpless is just used to justify what they are doing now and throw smoke in the eyes as to their guilt and complicity.

FOSS generally puts more pressure on people to write better and safer code, because you know everyone is going to look at it. Even when vulnerabilities are found, they are usually fixed so fast compared to the proprietary side. There are stories of people waiting 6 months for Microsoft to fix a vulnerability, while an Openssh or openssl issue is usually fixed in a few days.

They can do much much more when they want to.

This is basically the plot of "Brave New World"

Thank you! I am on Sway but I'll take a look at this. I didn't know there were premade userChrome themes. This is awesome

I agree to an extent. I understand your analogy but I think there's a crucial difference between ads for a product and political positions. You can easily get someone to buy a product, but getting someone to change their views on, say, abortion is much harder. Political positions are tied to identities in ways that purchasing decisions are generally not. There may be some ways to sway some people who are on the fense about a given candidate or position, but I generally think this ability to change people is way overstated. People just keep posting their opinions over and over and think it's actually changing someone's mind, more often they are preaching to people who already agree with them.

I am running Sway on Debian 12 and I just can't succeed in theming QT Flatpaks. The system is in a dark theme but all the QT Flatpaks are using a light theme. I tried a bunch of overrides ans exposes the .themes folder in my home after copying all the themes. Nothing seems to work. Did anyone succeed in theming these apps in a window manager?

I've just switched from Fedora to Debian 12 and I can't seem to get bridge networking to work. I've followed the official guide and edited the /etc/network/interfaces. I double checked and everything is correct. I rebooted the system but my ethernet stopped working altogether. Are there any updated guides and common pitfalls that I should keep in mind. I need the bridge for kvm.

The way I use reddit is usually for recommendations, reviews, technical problems, etc. One main way to do this is to search a subreddit or all of reddit to see if the answer is already there. Is there a way to have a similar search on Lemmy ? I can't seem to get this to work. It only searches for communities and not posts within them.
