Comments won't post randomly, I try to upload images and some work and others don't, then when I try to repost none will upload at all (I've resized my images too). Currently, trying to load this community, it will not show any posts but I can see them on my feed. Am I doing something wrong? I feel like it's been this way for a week and it's making me lose interest in the platform if I can hardly interact with it anymore, it sucks

edit: just wanna note that I know the devs have been working their asses off to support the wave of like, tens of thousands of users; I just wasn't sure if there is a secret cheat that I'm not privy to that would help my experience since it's been consistently buggy for me

I'm curious what old songs you might be thinking of? I was a wannabe raver in middle school and an actual one at the end of highschool lol. I may know what's up

[-] ratboy@lemmy.ml 5 points 11 months ago

Haha that was one of my first CDs as well. Loved that shit

Fuck yeah, trying to intimidate writers by dragging out negotiations til they lose their homes is disgusting. Glad that actors are stepping up

Well it used to be slipknot/KoRn/Limp Bizkit etc etc, but now nu metal is cool with all the zoomers, so I'm no longer embarrassed of being a nu metal kid. It's been pretty cool to reconnect with that stuff without fear! Tbh there are a lot of KoRn tracks that slap, and you can hear their influence in a lot of the underground metal music I listen to. The band chat pile that's pretty popular right now cites KoRn as an influence. Limp Bizkit is still preeeeeetty fuckin bad though. I fuck with some tracks off of 3 Dollar Bill Y'all$, but so much of it is just corny as hell. System of a Down was always considered dope so they don't count

I haven't really noticed that, but I also haven't dug into the comments too much recently. But, of course if thousands upon thousands of redditors jump onto this platform it's going to change the culture. Maybe try beehaw.org. they are.known for blocking a ton of instances but i think it's heavily moderated towards people being trolls.

It's my hope that a lot of the people who want to turn lemmy into reddit will get bored and leave since the interface isn't as convenient as reddit

Experiencing one symptom of autism does not make you autistic.

I'd suggest exploring Embrace Autism and take some of the tests if you suspect that you might be. That would be a good jumping off point.

I've posted about this before but the responses didn't quite help. I'm trying to add !stoner_rock@sh.itjust.works. on the browser on mobile, I go to communities and search for it with communities and "all" chosen. I searched for "stoner", "stoner rock", "stoner_rock" and "!stoner_rock@sh.itjust.works". Nothing. It also won't come up in Jerboa. So it seems like no one from lemmy.ml has interacted with this community before, I get that, but then how do I go about getting it added?

[-] ratboy@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

!stoner_rock@sh.itjust.works just found one, woo!

Www.lemmyverse.net rules when it comes to finding communities

This was happening to me on jerboa with my lemmy.ml account for a week or so; I think the app is still just wigging out due to the influx of users. I'd just wait it out and use the browser on mobile and it will probably come around as I don't have issues with that now. Or try reinstalling?

I signed up with beehaw first, but realized that they were defederated from lemmygrad, which I wanted access to. As I became more acquainted with lemmy and started looking into the "flavors" of the different instances, I joined lemmy.ml because they are unapologetic communists and won't defederate with lemmygrad.

As an aside, it's fucking insane to me that lemmygrad is so controversial yet there's crickets about exploding-heads and people are happy to be on instances that don't block them. Cool

But do they need to be so huge? Like I'd figure that after so many years and advancement in technology they could make a way more powerful engine that's the same size as older big trucks. And now a lot of them just have gigantic cabs with even shorter truck beds which confuses me

[-] ratboy@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 year ago

Had this convo a while ago, and afterwards I thought: why do people need these big ass trucks, when for decades we've had powerful enough trucks that did the same things newer giant Rams do? Like people gave been hauling work equipment, farm supplies and campers long before they got as big as they are now.

So I just downloaded Liftoff and found a couple of communities on an instance I'd never heard of before, and I decided that I wanted to subscribe to them on my lemmy.ml profile. We are federated, and when I view the communities through the main instance I see a bunch of posts and subscribers, but when I try to view them through lemmy.ml it says there is 1 subscriber (me) and no posts. I tested this on my mobile browser. Jerboa, and Liftoff all with the same result.

Is this one of those cases where it's a bug and will sort itself out, or am I doing something wrong? I don't wanna miss out potentially cool communities if they just aren't coming up for me

[-] ratboy@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

I think lemmy.ml was getting money from NLnet by completing Milestones, but now that they're scrambling to handle bugs and doing Q&A constantly I think they're losing out on that funding. At least that's what Dessalines reported, I believe

I'm wanting to connect with folks on the ground trying to do the work to unionize their workplace

I'm in the midst of unionizing my workplace; my department signed cards and were expecting to get voluntary recognition as the second department to unionize got it. Seems that's not going to be the case. We have all been pretty quiet about organizing and are still; now the inexperienced "leadership" of our organization has been controlling the narrative in all staff meetings (they are optional). He is very careful to not union bust outright, but we know that he's planting the seeds of anti union sentiment when we already have a mixed bag of beliefs on that within the staff as a whole. He's also got some of the top union busting lawyers in his ear telling him what to say and do, obviously.

I'd like to talk to newly minted union members, those in the fight right now, and those who won their first contracts whether they were big victories or not so much. Connecting to one another and talking strategy and inspiring one another is so important. I work in social services and have connected to other agencies in the same field that have Unionized and it's proven extremely valuable. Regardless of the field, though, we are all workers and should come together in solidarity for our efforts!

What is your industry, where do you work, where are you in the process?

So I want to add the extreme metal community which I believe is on feddit, and the hardcorepunk community on lemmyworld and for some reason they don't come up at all on jerboa or my mobile browser...is this a glitch situation, or am I not adding them correctly? It seems on both jerboa and the browser, adding the ! Links don't pull up communities, they only come up if I type the beginning of the community names in the search bar. The majority come up when I do this, but some such as the ones I mentioned don't come up no matter how I try to subscribe to them. What am I doing wrong?
