Personally, I don't see it as clashing. The gladiator is the more active sub-class and currently, in the situation where you're about to kill an enemy but your shield is up, strategically, you should not end the combo and be in search for your next fight. Your shield will be in cooldown but you have combo built up ready for a finish and reset. The gladiator should be played differently than the berserker.

But the change you proposed shouldn't be game-breaking and it'll make some players happy so I'm not opposed to it or anything. It's probably a good change.

I think overall the change is supposed to be a buff in terms of the damage mitigated by shielding; in total. You do have to actively manage it, to leverage the benefits, as opposed to before. It does require a shift in gameplay and tactics. I like the change because it seems more powerful overall; provided you min-max.

I agree with the other comment that the gladiator may be able to better exploit the change through Lethal Defense.

One thing I found interesting is the shielding doesn't degrade over time as long as an enemy is in view. This can be useful if you're farming/levelling and there's a room with a piranha pool in the middle; giving you a bit of control if you disposed of a mob and took minimal damage.

Certain trinkets are more useful now, if say you got them through the random selection. I'm thinking of the vial of blood in particular. At +3, 10 dew gives pretty much a full heal. I imagine 5 would be enough to help hover around 50% health. I haven't gotten the vial on a recent warrior yet so I can't confirm. But 5 is quite easy to obtain.

Do you give it gin?

I generally would welcome a hermit crab most of the time since dispatching one isn't too difficult and has a good chance of netting you an armour, which could be quite helpful.

But definitely, the scenario could also be the straw that breaks the camel's back in certain situations. I think a low(maybe 10% would be better) rate of this occurring and halving subsequently may make it manageable. I've killed 9 in total so far and they aren't that bad.

This should've been fixed in beta 1.2. 1.4 is the current version. Are you on 1.2 or higher?

[–] sirxdaemon@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Could you expand on that? I think this trinket a trap and not good at all. While it makes you harder to hit, it also makes enemies harder to hit. There is a limiting factor to making guaranteed hits; via wands, spells, etc. If you're able to make those hits the majority of your attacks then in my opinion, this trinket augments your firepower rather than makes an already strong build OP.

The only time I might consider this trinket is if you exploit dropping it when firing your bow and picking it up for melee. Even then, personally, since I play with multiple challenges, I'd rather amass resources with the mimic's tooth, rat skull, shard of oblivion, etc.

You just need to tap on that Join button to update to v271. I thought v269 was part of the beta as well but I guess not.

After you upload a picture with Connect, you should get a URL. Under the area where you input your comment, there's a toolbar of buttons. The leftmost one can be used to insert multiple pictures.

v271 is the latest version so I'm not sure why it's not showing up. Maybe search for Connect for Lemmy and see if that refreshes with the update option?

Sometimes bugs are intermittent so who knows. I rarely download images so I might not even notice it. So it's good to have different perspectives.

I'm not seeing the problem on v1.0.269 or v271. After tapping on the image, I can see the download button at the bottom and tapping on the three dots at the bottom right brings up a context menu that also has a download button. If this isn't the case for you, what version are you on? The version can be seen at the top of the Settings page.

On the Block List page, if you scroll down using the left side of the screen, you should see the list of communities and blocked users. If you visit your home blahaj.zone and view your Blocks page in Settings, the communities and users you block in Connect should also be on this list.

If the above is not the case, what version of Connect are you using? The version can be found at the top of Settings.

I was going to ask the same thing. I like all of the new obstacle dungeon items but for the barrels specifically, I think many will initially think they could be interactable. In many RPGs, barrels are destructible. It seems weird that fire at least wouldn't burn them down.

[–] sirxdaemon@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago

True.. but think of the sweet loot. I was surprised by the two items as well but then I checked the dev notes mention extra loot so I presume it's not uncommon to get two.

I typed out a post and went to add the picture for it but after the upload, a draft wasn't saved and the body section was empty. It was only two sentences so not a big loss. This is with v232.

Also, can the title be saved with the drafts as well? The title field is never saved.

EDIT: Interestingly, the title is saved after selecting an image but the body is not. While a saved draft, after backing out of post creation, doesn't include the title.

EDIT2: Another bug is post edits are no longer appearing after you submit them. Even when you back out to the community view and go into the post to refresh it, the updated post is not reflected and you need to reopen Connect for the things to be updated.

Sort options like Top 6 hours, Top 1 hour are missing from v229?

Just had the idea of using my Sad Ghost to set off the poison traps instead of the standard levitation potion. I just told the ghost to move to trapped locations and threw rations to set off the trap. At +7, it barely took any damage and doesn't take any poison damage, yet it does from cave spinners, which is odd.

Sometimes I'll try to make use of the traps and lure enemies near the room before setting the traps off with projectiles but this can be difficult and typically slow going.

After you tap on the three dots to bring up the new overflow menu, tapping outside of it to dismiss the menu registers as a regular tap on the feed. So I tap to close the menu but end up going to a post I didn't intend to.

There also seems to be a delay of half a second or so from tapping on the menu and it appearing. This is occurring on my Pixel 6 on v226. IIRC the old menu was faster.

Also I wanna throw shade at the new organization. It definitely looks better and should be organized. Personally, I liked having the option to block the community directly from the menu; now I have to tap on the block sub-menu first. Like the add user notes, now I gotta tap once more. But I'll adjust.

Similar to how blocking communities would update your feed by removing pertinent posts, it would be nice if blocking users did the same. Also, please have it save your place on the feed after the update.

I can't remember how the old one worked but I think it didn't have a save button and you could just tap outside the UI to save it? Also, maybe the change was implemented a few versions back and I haven't noticed.

Personally, I prefer the old, simpler one. The current UI has a form auto-full feature that I'm not sure I'll use. At first I typed in my note and then tapped outside the prompt and the thing disappeared and didn't save. Not a big deal since it was just two letters. But I didn't expect the prompt to close since the field had input and my tap was intended to minimize the auto-fill dialogue as it was covering the save button.

I'm curious what other people think about the new UI.

After unmuting the video here and then closing it, the audio continues to play. This is occuring on v224.

EDIT: Occuring with other videos so it's not specific to that one. The only way to stop the audio at the moment is to go back to the video that was playing and mute it.

I'm consistently getting this bug on 1.0.216. If I go to this post, tap on IninewCrow's comment, that starts with "Like Drump ...", to minimize that thread, then tap on it again to restore the thread, everything below their comment becomes an endless gray screen. Backing out and then opening the post again will fix the problem. When first entering the post, if I tap on a comment in one of the other thread chains, then I'm able to minimize comments in that particular chain without triggering the bug.

EDIT: This looks related so I'll add it here. If I go to this post, tap on AlolanVulpix's link, back out to the post, then tap on the overflow menu for the post, the whole screen becomes gray.

Also, AlolanVulpix's link isn't being resolved correctly by Connect and produces a "GoException: no routes for location: /post/39971490/14887796?hint=39971490/14887796&hintInstance=lemmy.ca" error but viewing the post in the browser, it works fine. It seems like Connect is using the home instance of the poster rather, like how I grabbed the Lemmy link from the overflow menu for the original bug of my post and it gave me the slrpnk.net instance for it rather than the lemmy.ca instance link, where the post was posted.

What's your opinion of the ability?

I think people that play with a couple of challenges, particularly Into the Darkness, will appreciate this one. While players in general may have less of a warm reception, preferring Trinity, I'm guessing. I mean if I had to pick the top one at the moment, it'd probably be Trinity. And I kinda like Ascended Form as well—mainly paired with a speed ring or Hallowed Ground.

I haven't spent enough time with PoM to get a good feel for it yet. Similarly with Trinity, though that's because of the number of combinations available. That one will take a while to gauge.

The description mentions that it spawns furrowed grass if you haven't gained experience in a while and this is working with Hallowed Grounds, however I'm still able to get dew and seeds from Rejuvenating Steps.

I'll piggyback this one as well. I had Iron Will through metamorphosis and expected to have 2 shielding but the skill seemed to do nothing for me. This was beta-2.5 I think while the Rejuvenating Steps one is in 2.7.

The current wording for LoH's description says it can stack up to a maximum of three casts worth of shielding. With LoH+2, I casted Bless+2, followed by 2 LoH, thinking I could cast a third, but this simply resulted in a used charge while I remained at 45 shielding. A slight tweak in the wording—something like, "Lay on Hands can be cast repeatedly, applying up to a maximum of three times the shielding"—would be helpful I think. I remembered the "three cast" part so I was confused initially.

You may be surprised to know that Cleanse will remove all stacked viscosity damage, or at least I was when I found out. That's quite a boon for the common Viscosity and something to consider the next time you get that enchantment. It can be particularly useful if you play with the Faith is my armor challenge.
