If the rumours that DW is going to be put on hiatus for 10 years and the sets taken down and production staff let go I can only say… it’s about time.

The (original) show was never about cartoony, fizzed-up comic action without subtlety or nuance that tried to pick up the audiences of Strictly and Love Island. It didn’t need a budget of $1 million per episode. It didn’t need Disney. Time for a rest and then a regeneration.

It should be the showrunners who need to go. Ncuti is not the issue; it’s the infantile, lowest-common-denominator storytelling that is the issue. It needs it’s budget halved, stop making design decisions based on merchandise and a fiery young upstart team to play punk SF with the show. AND in the name of Rassilon, get rid of the sonic screwdriver, somic guitar, somic sumglasses and all that trite nonsense. AND if they need a new Doctor, hire Matt Berry.

Politicians on the radio already saying they will need to cut welfare budgets to pay for “defence” increases!

Big bonuses on the way for bosses of arms companies everywhere and dividends galore for investers. Whatever happens all this pantomiming will only benefit the already excessively wealthy.

State schools have been run by grifters at the top for quite some time now. Everything outsourced. My youngest son has a CEO who earns £300k with a chauffeur-driven car (presumably so he can do “high-powered” stuff while being driven between school sites). It’s all normalised (or hypernormalised!)

And yet they’ll be millions of UK voters who will raise their Weatherspoons pints and cheer this on. Most likely 51%. All the same ones who hate foreigners, hate woke and hate anyone to the left of Enoch Powell.

I struggle to understand economics. How is it that almost all the major big businesses in UK have been reporting strong if not record profits recently? And yet hardly any growth… hmmm…

Have you been listening to and analysing the lyrics of mid-1970s Pink Floyd? If not then that could be your next move.

I wonder if Fantasy/SF/Horror have a cyclical rotation and that kids are just into Fantasy at the moment? Of all the AoS armies, Skaven are the best and there are some crazy miniatures. I was TERRIBLE beyond belief when I started painting but I found that if I took things slowly and watched some tutorials my skills really did improve. (Another thing to watch out for is Yugioh! - my son is OBSESSED with the card game and it’s bankrupting us!!! 😆 )

My son got into 40k and wanted me to go with him to the shop and help paint figures. We bought him the Starter Set and he played as Tyranids and left me with the Space Marines. He moved onto Age of Sigmar (and I get the impression that most kids/teens seem to be more into Fantasy than grimdark SF). I enjoyed the painting and started to play.

My only regret was choosing an army too soon. I wish I’d taken longer and learned more about the lore before choosing. (My son is mad about Skaven currently!)

Like all Westminster parties, a party 99% composed of grifters who see politics as a means of becoming wealthier. Behind the scenes, most Tories and Labour mps socialise and generally share the same views.

Yes. I have a 4gb Pi 4 and self-host a Wordpress website, Bookstack, Trilium, Syncthing server and a server to serve images and a couple of other apps which are all internet available through a Cloudflare tunnel. Far from struggling (though admittedly nothing is processor intensive).

I’ll be surprised if Labour do anything to challenge anything about MATs and the crooks who run them. Take a look at the “experts” involved in the curriculum review - all pro-academisation and many of them already raking in the cash as either CEOs or advisors to MATs. I think parents would be genuinely shocked if they knew the extent of the (for want of a better word) corruption in education. Like all aspects of governing a modern state, politcians don’t want to actually manage anything and are quite happy to let the grifters do it for them.
