This is misleadingly reductionist. California high speed rail has made consistant progess in that time. That progress has been slower than ourslowest expectations. It demonstrates the void of expertise the US has in rail megaprojects. However, that expertise is being built, slowly and painfully. Its still forward progress for a nation which tore up half its rail overthe last 50 years.

California high speed rail is an actual project which has actually been building actual rail since 2008. It is the only rail megaproject active in the United States. It has many challenges, none of them physics, some of which were mad worse by Musk's bullshit.

Asking for an actual comparison between the circumstances of the Chinese high speed rail network and the circumstances of the California High Speed Rail project is valid.

This response reflects poorly

exactly this. If I need to do development, i'll use a jetbrains product. If i'm in a pure text editing situation, I want the most powerful thing for manipulating text, and I want it to be available.

Vim can have some IDE-like qualities, if you bolt enough plugins in to it, but by default it affords buttinx text in a file and manipulating it.

I woudn't classify it as an ide though.

'legitimate government' isn't really a thing. Many recognized countries are ruled by hereditary governments, or by autocrats who gained power in a coup. The legitimacy of such governments, andthe nationhood of the states, is recognized by other countries based on the foreign policy (mostly self interest) of those other countries. So, if you want to guess who would recognize a Gaza nation with Hamas as the ruling clique, ask yourself what governments would benifit from doing that.

I literally cannot believe we are arguing about this bullshit when Ohio exists

I work in software, and I used to look down on luddites. Then I learned what they actually stood for and now I agree with them.

the Isreali government has a long and increasing history of systematic oppression of palestinian people, both inside and outside of the occupied palestinian territories. https://www.amnesty.org/en/location/middle-east-and-north-africa/israel-and-occupied-palestinian-territories/report-israel-and-occupied-palestinian-territories/

Theres a lot of people that pretend the opposite, as well. We are all biased towards the thing we like. Its obvious cities are popular, because they are expensive. Its also obvious suburbs are popular, because they alsoare axpensive.

What people mostly wish is that more city could be built, becausethe demand forcity living is still highar than that for suburbs.

For those curious, this is a fireproofing wrap intended to help save the structure in the event of a forest fire.
