Someone said that valve does not want to upgrade the Steamdecks cpu regularly that way it can act as a baseline for games to target.

I kind of like this approach. I think so many devs focus on making everything bleeding edge when most of us would be happy playing with low settings.

Maybe the steamdeck will lead to further optimizations to these games down the line and maybe games that are early in development will try to target the steamdeck for the minimum spec.

Starfield and bg3 were too far along in development when steamdeck game out for them to optimize for it.

I’ll be happy to see how it runs though.

So you like $200-150 for a working system. Then the steam deck is like hey im $400 and way more capable.

At least the x key works on my phone.

I can’t wait until phones can be docked to act as desktops.

I know Samsung Dex does this, but my understanding is that it’s not really well supported.

Thanks for this.

I have a genuine question.

My wife’s MacBook Air has 8gb of ram, my desktop has 16gb of ram.

Why do phones need so much ram?

Sell it to who?

Yeah, he was doing some kind of shake at some point.

They are testing new sound muffling tech so the sonic boom that is created will not affect populated areas. Currently, supersonic jets are banned due to the power of the sonic boom.

They will start testing in populated areas and gather data.

So it looks like it’s required by law once every 5 years.

Nevermind, I see that there is an s10e. I'll compare those two phones to see if the 10e is worth the extra $20.

Thanks for the recommendation. I guess I do not mind running stock Android, but I would prefer something less bloated. It looks like the s9 is about $70 here, but the s10 is $150-200. Why would that one be so much more expensive?

I fail to see the purpose of a MacPro over a Mac Studio.

I know it has pci slots, but can someone tell me how they will realistically be used? Used in a way that can't be done with thunderbolt.

The pricing seems absurd compared to a Mac Studio.

I lived Red and Blue as a kid. I think I played Gold on an emulator back in the day.

I really loved the challenge I had playing Red as a kid. I liked getting through an area with just a few hp left.

I never got hardcore into the newer games and have been so disappointed with how easy and hand holding the newer games have been.

I would like to play a romhack. Can someone make a recommendation for me?

I have only played with it for a few minutes as I am about to start work. But it seems really great so far. I need to look into the control scheme to learn some of the controls, but it was not difficult to figure out.

I think it also supports controllers as well, I will likely play it that way at some point.

There is a community that is new on lemmy.ml

I can access it from that site, but it says community not found when I try to navigate to it via.

I am playing Pokemon Violet at the moment and it is a total bore. I have played the game so many times and I just want to run around catch Pokemon and battle.

I do not need another tutorial about what a Pokemon center is. Or a tutorial to tell me that I need to use a Pokeball to catch a Pokemon.

Can we get a "I've played this game 100 times" mode where it just saves the tutorials and lets us play the game?

I just wanted to thank you for your work on this app. iOS needs an app to access Lemmy. This is a great time for the app due to Apollo shutting down. I believe that your work on this app will greatly increase the number of people who join the fediverse.

Yes, there are basically no reasons to not move to USB-C. Up until this point, I have been saying that it is a matter of convenience. But it is also economical.

The other day, my wife and I were out and planned to get lunch and go back home. We had outdoor seating and it was a beautiful day, so she decided to stay and work.

She did not have her lightning headphones and asked me how much a cheap pair would cost. Well, since it is lightning it would be about 3x as much as a USB-C pair.

I was so close to just pulling the trigger on an iPhone 13 since my iPhone XR is constantly freezing and has terrible battery life. This instance reaffirmed my decision to wait for a USB-C model iPhone.

If the iPhone 15 for some reason does not have USB-C or it is wildly expensive, I am just going to get an iPhone 13 and use that until is no longer works.

I just played through Katamari 2 on the switch, but I played it way back on PS2. I always like Katamari 1 better.

Katamari 2 tried a lot of new things, like keeping the katamari on fire by continuously rolling things up, or trying to roll it to a specific size. None of them were bad, but they were not particularly fun.

Most importantly, the music from Katamari 1 is so much better. Those songs have been ingrained in my brain since I was a child. I still um/sing them around the house.

After finishing Katamari 2, I booted up Katamari 1 and immediately it felt like the movement was a bit quicker.

I think the next Katamari release was on the 360. I am not sure if that was the final release. I hope we get a remaster of it as I would like to see how it changed due to the increased power of that console generation.

Very Early Game Spoilers

I am playing Grandia 1 for the first time on the Switch and it hit me so hard when Justin moved away.

For reference, I moved to another country when I was 30 and I have not returned to my home country since. The plan was to come back at some point, but I have built a life here and have been married to a local. My parents came out to visit recently and I talk to them a few times week, so it's not like it is some super sad story, but it was a tough part of the game to work through.

I related to Justin so much and have been drawn in to this game so much due to the characters. I am still really early in this game. I just made it across the sea and look forward to becoming an adventurer.

One thing that I find interesting about this game is that the style of the game and menus are like a mix of PS1 and SNES graphics. I guess this was an early PS1 game.
