If the goal was to destroy Europe, I really don't know what I'd be doing differently.
Seems like the MAGA wing of the republican party recognizes that the hegemony is now becoming unsustainable. My expectation is that people like Musk are going to position themselves to reap the benefits of reindustrialization by making sure government funding flows to their companies.
welcome to the future :)
Russia already emphatically ruled out any possibility of a territory swap.
Yeah, it's been amazing to watch how quickly China managed to catch up. I'm excited about the next few years when China starts visibly pulling ahead of the west.
Thing is that Russia doesn't want to be seen as being flaky. If they start doing shit like that then it will make it impossible for anyone to trust them going forward. And ultimately they don't need to play games. They're winning the war, and there's nothing the west can do to stop that. I think Russia wants this conflict to end definitively on their terms so that it's crystal clear to everyone that Russia will not be bullied by the west going forward.
I'd argue terminally online libs aren't really a good representation of public opinion as a whole though. A better metric is the political crises that are unfolding all across Europe right now.
They're openly admitting that conscription is not sufficient to backfill positions now. It looks like the inflection point has been hit at the end of last year where the front is visibly starting to collapse. It's going to take a few more months, but it will accelerate. Pokrovsk is place to watch because once that falls then the front will be split in two with no way to reinforce.
I'm not so sure that Russia will be interested in making deals with the US though. They're likely to prefer to continue shifting trade towards more reliable partners like China. The reality is that Russia doesn't need to make a deal here, they can just win militarily.
I'd argue that misunderstanding of the capabilities of machine learning systems stems directly from the hype created by capitalists to promote them.
Exactly, people keep thinking AI is basically just hallucinating chat bots because that's largely what we see in the west. Meanwhile in China, this tech is actually being applied productively because there's actual planning being done at state level to nudge its development towards socially useful directions.
The goal here is to make money for the oligarchs. Reindustrializing will just be the slogan for the public spending campaign. It's gonna work the same way Halliburton was "rebuilding" Iraq.
