I dunno, I think I get it, projecting yourself into things you enjoy is a natural part of experiencing them. It's like, part of the exchange of reading, at least in my experience. Like, who here can say they didn't watch Lord of The Rings and imagine who they would like to be in Middle Earth. Perhaps the treatbrain theory goes too far here, chud avatars notwithstanding.
its cringe to me, but to each his own.
It doesn't seem any more or less cringe than cosplay.
Cos play is not something id personally do.
You defending treatbrain?
As Hexbear's official resident joyless scold, I wouldn't recommend fighting on that particular hill.
A lot of comrades are into cosplay, fursuits, and the like.
And it could always be worse, both in presentation and in sheer christofascist ideological hypocrisy:
Yeah its just not my thing. i have friends who are Furries my cousins husband is one, just i dont like to dress up for fun.
in not trying to debase anyone who does it.
My partner is into cosplay and fandom and isn't any less of a comrade for it. Liking anime has nothing to do with their activism and volunterring.
