Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

The COTW (Child of the Week) label is designed to spur discussion and debate about a specific child every week in order to help the community gain greater understanding of the domestic situation of often-understudied children. If you've wanted to talk about the child or share your experiences, but have never found a relevant place to do so, now is your chance! However, don't worry - this is still a general news megathread where you can post about ongoing events from any child.

The Child of the Week is Hassan LargePenis! He is chad-and-cuck rater and general commenter @LargePenis@hexbear.net's son, born over a month ago. @Greenleaf@hexbear.net recommended I have him as the COTW for a week and I finally got around to it.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful. Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Palestinians facing a genocide had zero obligation to make murals of George Floyd or even send tips to protestors, they still did it.

Meanwhile those same protestors would later throw Gaza and Palestinians/Muslims under the bus the moment kamala becomes the candidate.

That's how they're repaid.

There is no solidarity to build with the lumpen proletariats of the US.

[–] SeekTheDeletion@hexbear.net 78 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

It’s not the same people.

The militant core of the first wave of George Floyd riots has basically zero overlap with the comprador classes who ingratiate themselves with the DNC. The latter group coopted the movement in the media while police squashed it on the ground.

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 42 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, it's the difference between the original BLM leadership who were assassinated and the grifters who act like they're the national leadership now

[–] GlueBear@hexbear.net 15 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I'm sorry but who was assassinated?

Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi are still alive. They just quit

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 20 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Could've sworn there were a bunch of BLM leaders whose remains were found in burned out cars that the cops obviously killed but I could be wrong, my brain is pretty broken at this point

[–] SoloboiNanook@hexbear.net 27 points 3 weeks ago

Ferguson organizers. 2 or 3 of them

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Pretty clear that they’re referring to street leaders rather than blm the org

[–] GlueBear@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Who were they? I was unaware that BLM leaders of any kind were assassinated

[–] MaeBorowski@hexbear.net 9 points 3 weeks ago

From older comments: 6 big Ferguson organizers died or "committed suicide" pretty quickly after their protests started to die down. This includes two people shot and burned in their cars, one shot infront of the Ohio Statehouse, one who was hanged in a park, and one who had a heart attack on a bus. The police investigated a few of these and never came up with anything.

basically almost all of the original organizers were killed by police, or in other suspicious circumstances like being found dead in burned cars with gunshot wounds.

[–] GlueBear@hexbear.net 16 points 3 weeks ago

I'm seeing the same people that supported the first wave of George Floyd protests support kamala. There is no solidarity to build between minority communities in the US. It makes me physically ill to say this, but the people with kamala right now are the same people with BLM then.

8 million settlers one barbara-pit

[–] m532@hexbear.net 27 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

In the usa, the lumpenproletariat is the only one that didn't cheer for genocide. The proletariat in usa is labor aristocrats.

[–] GlueBear@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I've seen people from both of those groups. I just expected the LP to understand solidarity better than the regular labor aristocracy

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 3 points 3 weeks ago

There's great friction for any kind of organization towards radical political change, especially so in an imperialist country, and double especially so for the lumpenproletariat which is definitionally disorganized.

[–] SaniFlush@hexbear.net 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

What you’re saying is true yet no matter how much I intellectually understand the people around me deserve to suffer, I’d still be sad if it happened. How do I process this?

[–] GlueBear@hexbear.net 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It's human to feel this. Disappointment with the people around you with a hint of apathy (don't cry too much for them) is how I do it.

[–] SaniFlush@hexbear.net 3 points 3 weeks ago

That's a safe emotional barrier, though I worry that it would be a lack of empathy on my part, masquerading as revolutionary defeatism.

Don't make me lathe Arab lives matter chants into existence.
