But can it run Linux?

Honestly if it was a open ecosystem with powerful hardware that wouldn't unreasonable. Also if the games were cheaper it would be fine as often consoles are sold at a loss.

Yes, actually. Hacked Switches can run Linux and even Android.

Can newer ones? I thought only the launch switches were capable of that, and they patched it later on.

I'll have to look into that. Not that I need Linux on my switch anytime soon.

Does it run well? I remember when people were first showing off Android on the switch it didn't look great.

It's better, but it's still worse than Android tablet, however, Linux is alright since you can use it docked like steam deck
