This is the part that I didnt get about this for a long time. I mean I knew it, but i didnt make the connection in my brain.
All I understood is that in my mind I wasnt voting for all the evil things they do, I was voting for the marginal differences. That was the point of my vote in my mind.
It didnt occur to me until like late last year (yes, that late) that this doesnt materially matter because thats not how the politican takes it. They take it as an endorsement of every action they take.
For this reason, I'm sympathetic to people still stuck in that rut.
I never had it with voting but admittedly the same kind of logic held me back from going vegan for a long time, like, "I feel bad about eating meat so that makes it less bad when I do it, somehow."
