I still don’t understand who is participating in these polls.
2020 I did participate in one re Biden and Trump, but here’s the thing. I was doing a purge of the junk e-mail account, you know, the one you keep to divert shit to, then generally mass delete. Before doing a delete all, I did a quick scroll and saw something oddly academic, for this email, and actually clicked into it (who does that?!?!). It was what it looked like and I participated, x3.
That said, if that’s how they’re polling, it’s not good.
I (in NC) randomly get texts with poll links and make sure to participate.
Are they only sent to swing states? Is that why I never see any?
Pretty much. Why bother polling California or Alabama? Waste of money.
Edit: and I really just mean this in the context of the presidential race. State parties and candidates likely poll for their own district or informational purposes, but the extent and intensity will differ dramatically.
nah I've gotten a few and I'm not in a swing state. But yeah probably 10x more in swing states
I'm in Michigan and I got a poll for Trump v Biden before and after the debate. It came via text. Haven't gotten one since though.
In Michigan someone (probably the Democrats) is actually sending canvassers door-to-door to do polling.
