In a lot of fiction, having some guy that used to be powerful get his ass kicked to demonstrate how dangerous a new threat is is an old and reliable trick.

They could at least apply the Worf effect equally. One could say the ending of the Heeter Arc is that in real time; but... lbr Tien Yamcha and Krillin all been catching those asswhoopings for the past 20 years

Oh thats when Yamcha got pounded by my homegrown plant into dust. But you already knew that I just wanted to repeat it because its as funny as it sounds. Oh the statue is in Shanghai China
