This is the actions of a rational person who tries to keep the vibes good. You should not apologise for reaching out to other admins trying to preempt something shitty from happening. Seriously, this is completely fine. I would do the same thing in order to get someone from a hostile instance to help me out. I lie all the time in my day to day life when I interact with people I have to convince to do something. That's what you do.
It's that this came in combination with a total lack of transparency with us and a constantly shifting rationale for removing the comms. And the fact that these clowns got week notice while the admins couldn't even solicit feedback on the changes here first before implementing them. Was it a ruse? I just don't know what to believe anymore
