Did they make Orlok a romantic sadboy?
I want to have faith in Eggers but also it feels like every single Dracula since Christopher Lee has tried to be subversive about the original story in a way that just annoys me to no end.
They did not. Orlok is menacing and full on raging in service of his id.

Not really? Obvs the love is a big story component but it's more "you promised me, I own you now, and you're not getting out of that" if that helps answer your question? Honestly this is the first Dracula movie I've sat thru.
