The vampire design took me a little by surprise, the movie was horny, and had a lot of badass lookin scenes. Didn't feel as long as it was, Willam Dafoe hams it up.

Oh they did a good job with the famous hand shadow scene too from the 20s one.

Would definitely recommend!

lol, dafoe in a vampire flick, Count Orlock... I totally thought everybody was on about Shadow of the Vampire (2000), which the trailer sucks for but I remember being real intriguing and creepy as a story. I was like, "damn, these kids today are going though the obscure back catalogue."

until the Lily Rose NEPPotism bit, then I was like, oh there's a new drac movie.

looks like they spent bux on it, so I'll watch it.

IMO it was super well done, but I've never really sat through a Dracula movie so my bar might be lower. That said I've always been an Eggers fan and this is another banger from him in my book.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

I'm excited about the costuming. The gowns are to die for (literally, I would guess)

It's pretty great, definitely felt like 1830s Germany

Just opened the trailer which has a woman saying “come to me” 3 times in a shaky whisper. Definitely not sus at family’s house

It is indeed horny, but that's a little inescapable given that it's a Dracula movie

Did they make Orlok a romantic sadboy?

I want to have faith in Eggers but also it feels like every single Dracula since Christopher Lee has tried to be subversive about the original story in a way that just annoys me to no end.

They did not. Orlok is menacing and full on raging in service of his id.

I'm sold, hell yeah.

Not really? Obvs the love is a big story component but it's more "you promised me, I own you now, and you're not getting out of that" if that helps answer your question? Honestly this is the first Dracula movie I've sat thru.

i would be so excited for this movie but i cant stand lilly rose depp. I refuse to watch anything else with her. im actully quite bummed because everything else about the film sounds perfect for me.

Give it a shot when its streaming, there's a LOT of the movie that doesn't have her on screen despite being the main character. But yeah if you're that adverse to an actress, then I'm not gonna try and convince you to spend money on it pirate-jammin

[–] sweet_pecan@hexbear.net 2 points 20 hours ago

maybe if its on hextube

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 day ago

Hell yeah, I was hoping it would be good!
