WV is Joe Manchin country so my hopes for an actual Dem of the people is very low.

Mankind is barely able to look beyond the benefit of their direct offspring, much less future generations, and often, not even that far. It will always be a race to the bottom as long as being immoral yields immediate benefits at the cost of long-term good.

There are moral, long-term thinking people, but these often lose battles to immoral short-term thinkers since they tend to not be willing to sacrifice "the moral high ground," lest they become no better than their opponents.

So... if I start a nuclear war... and wipe out the entire human race... I'm the most moral person because I've reduced the number of killers in the world to zero, forever?
