Add getting the Trump bucks during the initial COVID waves and I don't know what else to say than he's materially the best president weve had in my life.

I mean it really shows how useless and evil the Democrats are more than anything. It's fucking wild

(Obviously it's not over yet, not getting ahead of myself, but this is the most progress we've seen by a long shot)

edit: folks it should be obvious i dont think he is doing this as a good thing or that it's not going to be a double edged sword. i'm just saying look at biden and compare.

Trump is the definition of failing upwards. It's interesting to think what his legacy might be, because I don't know at this point.

There's something slightly different from simple "failing upwards" going on here. It's the combination of wealth and complete lack of introspection or uncertainty or nuance.

Americans are particularly receptive to someone who fully embodies all their values, of being rich and inhumane and unapologetic and even proudly ignorant. For someone to exhibit all of these to a full extent, they need to be brought up in a kind of contemptuous, misanthropic opulence that perfectly conditions them to never entertain any critique of themselves. Then they must be some combination of capable and lucky in order to succeed and not be weeded out. These criteria combined amount to one in millions, and the result is the perfect sociopath.

So he didn't exactly fail upwards, he ended up just as wealthy as he started. He did manage to convert wealth and notoriety into power though.

that could probably boil down what I'm trying to say actually to "what the hell is happening".

We are in the "here there be monsters" stage of the rise of fascism I believe, it's harder and harder to predict
