I wasn't exactly a fan of the subreddit before this for various reasons but it's really funny how predictable libs are that they all join the doomer sub in 2025 because trump won and completely forget what the whole point of the sub is which used to be a loose coalition of cranks, climate doomers, leftists/anarchists, conspiracy guys and preppers like some real weirdos who were at least not exactly people who would be like "oh hell yes america baby constiution lets own the conservatives by dressing up in red white and blue!!! that will make them real mad this is definitely not a op!"

no like seriously this is so funny one of the top comments is basically someone tsk tsking others in the comments for being apathetic aka dooming which is what the fucking SUBREDDIT is supposed to be for. You're on the reddit DOOMER sub you fucking donkey.

Another good example is the /r/military sub which is essentially filled with libs that went there basically as a way of wishcasting that people in the military are gonna be on their side but it's more like random lib redditors talking to eachother than actual people in the military at this point lmfao

I made this comment over 4 years ago describing my observations of that sub, turns out I hit the nail on the head lathe-of-heaven

Last year I finally figured out what r/collapse's deal is, they're downwardly mobile (upper middle to lower middle) suburban millennial kids who discovered capitalism exists, half of them know it as capitalism and the other half think it's "cOrruPt hUmAn NatUre"

Facets of reality that would appear "normal" or obvious to people who exist under or just above the poverty line gets confused as signals of impending collapse (which to be fair on a long enough timeline probably are)

Those kids are harmless, but they get worked up real easy, most of them probably never set foot in an apartment until they left for collage
