Well that's a rude thing to say to your... girlfriend?

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 88 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Or she just isnt his girlfriend and is simply being an invasive asshole.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 36 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think the implication is that she is his girlfriend and he just wants to break up.

Which is a bit weird, because look at that t-shirt. She's clearly marriage material.

Perhaps they're in what the kids call a "situationship".

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 6 points 2 months ago

Maybe he's just an ass and she thinks he's joking

[–] Hawke@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

That was how I read it at first too, but she at least implies that she is his “quirky girlfriend” depending on how you interpret it.

I couldn’t figure it out

Like the very worst reading of it would have someone thinking the author is… well I don’t want to say because I don’t believe it

.

Maybe you can hear someone thinking “incel” even though highly doubt

Maybe she's a clingy lady who finds him attractive and is overly forward but the feeling isn't mutual.

He’s well dressed

Has nice pleats

Meanwhile she’s actually wearing that dumb shirt? The one that has narwhal bacon on the back presumably

Theory approved

Edit: oh, he came home drained from work to her in her comfy clothes and he loves to tease her?

I mean, the issue is that this is clearly from a webcomic that no one here reads. And web comics typically have huge amounts of lore about their characters and relationships that can't be conveyed in a single image. Maybe it actually is funny, if all of us had read the last 1000 pages of the web comic leading up to this... But we didn't. So we are left with two possible, not mutually exclusive scenarios:

  1. This comic sucks.
  2. OP sucks, for posting a comic that requires more context than anyone here has.
