MODERATORS

I recently created a Europe community on lemmy.dbzer0.com to act as an alternative to the Europe community on Feddit.org since that one has had some controversy and is becoming less viable for discussing current events in Europe, especially relating to Israel.

The new community allows much of the same content as on the old one but also allows news and discussions related to the conflict in Israel and disallows genocide apologia (can't believe I have to advertise this as a feature). If that sounds like something you're interested in I urge you to check out !europe@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Thanks for the link.

  • I see some people confused about how AutoMod works here on Lemmy,
  • people rage-baiting each other and we can discuss that. I always think it's super distasteful when the topic is actual people loosing their lives, so I might be okay with the mods cracking down on that. It might be tricky though for the mods to get it right.
  • And then I see some people whining about posts getting locked? And I don't get that. Seems they're in a transitioning period with their moderation. And locking means they didn't even delete anything.

So there's a huge pile of misinformation there. Maybe there's a few warranted complains buried underneath that, but I didn't find them. Most of the deleted posts are from super agitated people anyways, contain a lot of words like "idiots", swearwords and personal attacks. And that's generally what we moderate here on Lemmy.

Idk, are you pro or contra deleting stuff and banning people? Because you yourself sure seem to be quick with the ban-hammer and handing out false accusations?!

Here's an example of the sort of comments that were unjustly being removed, as cited by one of the feddit.org admins himself. He thinks he was in the right, claiming that some of the comments were from "sockpuppet accounts," but as I said in reply in that thread, removing comments saying things like “just create a secular state that respects people’s right” should’ve been their “are we the baddies?” realization moment.

That particular user who was banned for sockpuppeting has made literal hundreds of accounts, they were originally known as Antiyanks. They've been making new accounts constantly since 7 months ago so they can avoid being banned for treating people like garbage and accusing them of supporting genocide without any sort of merit to it.

The comments weren't removed for what they said, they were removed because the user is a serial ban evader who makes accounts just to harass people and it's clear by now that they have no intent of participating in good faith. They just want to yell at people.

Now listen to me because you pissed me off.

It's a war now. In a month, lemmy is 90% bots. Mine. Fuck you.
