What what what?!? The "Tread harder, daddy" snake is based on a real thing?!?

[–] Dragonstaff@leminal.space 12 points 2 days ago

The Gadsden flag is based on the earlier Join or Die political cartoon. It is a symbol of the American Revolution, and it is generally understood to mean an opposition to state coercion.

Which makes it a direct contradiction to the "Blue Lives Matter" flag. The popularity of the combination of these two directly contradicting statements shows that conservatives are idiots who don't stand for anything. I call it the "Tread on them" combo.

Please tell me that you're joking.

Please tell me that the original meaning and intent of the Gadsden flag isn't completely lost on America's youth.

Some of us dirty foreigners have learned how to use the internet too, not everyone online is American.

Ah. The original treaders. Now it's making sense.

Sorry, I'm not American, and I've likely only seen it on Lemmy, and likely in satirical forms.

Anyway, I've read the other linked info and a bit more, so at least feel I do know now :)

I'm also not a youth, but I'll absolutely take that as a compliment, thank you very much :D
