Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --
-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --
-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --
-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--
-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--
-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --
-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Understood. I think there's a tendency to overestimate the influence of external actors in order to subconsciously externalize America's problems as not-American. Fascist ideology plays on this tendency and cultivates an image of a "pure" nation that is merely being corrupted by external forces (or often an internal force that is externalized/otherized). So that's probably one reason you're seeing so much pushback in these replies.
When studying US history, we see a consistent through-line of decades of imperialism, war crimes, and domestic oppression that isn't in any way unique to Trump and can be explained almost entirely by US material interests. Given that and the fact the US is the dominant global superpower, narratives that try to assign blame to foreign actors seem mislead at best.
I would normally agree, but Russia's influence on MAGA, and especially HitlerPig himself, is well documented.
In 1997, Alexandr Dugin published The Foundations of Geopolitics, which outlined how Russia could achieve world dominance without war, and it has become the playbook for Russian foreign policy. It is taught at the Russian Military Academy, and Putin keeps a copy on his desk. Dugin is still a close advisor, and his daughter was a major intelligence authority until she was murdered by a car bomb that was meant for her father.
I suggest everyone who thinks the Russia influence is overblown to peruse the section under Content, where they will find Russia's plan to dominate each region of the world. Under America, it reads:
Read the section on England, and you will recognize Brexit. Read the section on Ukraine, and you will read language that Putin has quoted directly in his justifications for invading Ukraine. It is obvious that this book is Putin's blueprint.
There is also this statement:
And here is this community, doing exactly what Putin wants you to do.
Not only is Putin behind the rise of far right politics, you are falling right into his trap, and helping him.
Oh god here we go lmfaooo
Googled Alexander Dugin. Dude basically invented being a nazbol and citing him should be met with a LOT of skepticism. Im not reading some book by a fascist but these seems like using mein kampf as a source. Dubious as a source and sus that they even read it.
This guy is a dumb lib dweeb, but what he's saying is that "Dugninism" is the guiding philosophy of the RF and beloved by people like Putin. So he's not citing Mein Kampf on Mein Kampf's authority, he's pointing to people liking Mein Kampf and then explaining their actions in terms of what Mein Kampf says.
The critical difference being that Dugin's influence is wildly overstated and he's just sort of a cartoon villain for liberals to invent conspiracies about because he says a lot more wild stuff than Putin. Obviously Dugin is evil and has a political faction, but he's not some national puppetmaster.
I was saying its weird to be reading the guy in the first place like its weird to read nein Kampf
I don't think this guy actually reads Dugin as much as he is fed quotes from BlueAnon people, but it's actually a good thing to be familiar with the content of Mein Kampf because it destroys countless liberal myths about Germans having the Holocaust be kept secret from them, about the Soviets believing Hitler was their ally, that the future western Allies weren't tolerant of such things, and so on. Hitler really does lay out all the most important aspects of what the Nazis would go on to do, and people around the world read his book and unquestionably saw it coming, which is a very simple proof that certain liberal readings of history around these issues are completely false. Likewise, I think that if Dugin was really that important to Russia, it is a perfectly reasonable thing to be as familiar with his work because it would help you understand the Russian state and the reactions of various other parties. The main issue is that he isn't that important.
Remember, you can't defeat fascists at scale by being ignorant of them.
Im saying this guy is an idiot for citing an asshole, okay? Youre being annoying
He's not "citing" Dugin based on Dugin being credible, he is "citing" Dugin based on Dugin being a fascist menace. He's wrong (Dugin is a fascist, but not some central influence), but the line that you've copy/pasted in like four different places doesn't make sense.
I know, I'm just waiting for one of these BlueAnon libs to show any real proof that he's actually an influential figure in current day Russian politics. As far as I've been able to sus out, him and Putin have never even been in the same room together lol
Im separated by age and distance but yeah. Id be surprised if Putin could recall who the guy is if you mentioned the name to him
