Image is of the damage caused by an Iranian Kheibar Shekan ballistic missile in Israel, causing dozens of injuries.

Now in our second week of the conflict, we have seen continuing damage to both Israel and Iran, as well as direct US intervention which nonetheless seems to have caused limited damage to Fordow and little damage to Iran's nuclear program. Regime change seems more elusive than ever, as even Iranians previously critical of the government now rally around it as they are attacked by two rabid imperialists at once. And Iran's government is tentatively considering a withdrawal, or at minimum a reconsideration, of their membership to the IAEA and the NPT. And, of course, the Strait of Hormuz is still a tool in their arsenal.

A day or so on from the strike on Fordow, we have so far seen basically no change in strategy from the Iranian military as they continue to strike Israel with small barrages of missiles. Military analysts argue furiously - is this a deliberate strategy of steady attrition on Israel, or indicative of immense material constraints on Iran? Are the hits by Israel on real targets, or are they decoys? Does Iran wish to develop a nuke, or are they still hesitating? Will Iran and Yemen strike at US warships and bases in response to the attack, or will they merely continue striking only Israel?

And perhaps most importantly - will this conflict end diplomatically due to a lack of appetite for an extended war (to wit: not a peace but a 20 year armistice) or with Israel forced into major concessions including an end to their genocide? Or even with a total military/societal collapse of either side?

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.

“DHS Awards $94 Million in Grants to Help Protect 512 Jewish Faith-Based Organizations from Targeted Violence and Terrorism”

https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/06/27/dhs-awards-94-million-grants-help-protect-512-jewish-faith-based-organizations

Definitely genuine concern about religious bigotry, for sure. Anyone playing into the “spike in antisemitism” smear is covering for Zionist genocide, intentionally or unintentionally

full text

Following the terror attack in Boulder, CO and the murder of two Israeli Embassy staffers, DHS is working to counter the concern rise in antisemitic violence and terrorism

WASHINGTON – Today, the Department of Homeland Security announced it is awarding $94,416,838 to over 512 Jewish faith-based organizations across the United States through its National Security Supplemental (NSGP-NSS).

This money, part of the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, will be used to help these organizations harden their defenses against attacks. This allocation comes after a terrorist attacked demonstrators with a flamethrower and Molotov cocktails at an event in support of hostages in Gaza, and after two Israeli Embassy staffers were murdered in Washington, DC, by a terrorist who shouted, “Free Palestine.” In 2024, the ADL said it recorded a record high of 9,354 antisemitic incidents in the U.S., marking a 344% increase over the past five years.

“DHS is working to put a stop to the deeply disturbing rise in antisemitic attacks across the United States,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “That this money is necessary at all is tragic. Antisemitic violence has no place in this country. However, under President Trump and Secretary Noem’s leadership, we are going to do everything in our power to make sure that Jewish people in the United States can live free of the threat of violence and terrorism.”

The program, operated through FEMA, will help protect Jewish faith-based institutions from further attacks, and was advocated for by over 40 plus Jewish organizations. The funding was appropriated by Congress in response to a surge in antisemitic threats linked to the Israel Hamas war. All faith-based institutions were eligible to apply for grant funding to help defend themselves from threats including houses of worship, educational facilities, medical facilities, community centers and other faith-based institutions. More grant disbursements will follow from the NSGP

Required reading on the topic of "protecting Jewish people."

Zionism inflates "hate crime" statistics by David Miller

Also the supranational "Combat Antisemitism Movement" is literally a front group for the israeli foreign ministry.

Ah, so based (from the second article)

“There are hardly any in other parts of Africa and none in Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, North Korea, China, Lebanon, Yemen, Iran, or Iraq.” [emphasis mine]

I also found this chart useful

[–] hellinkilla@hexbear.net 37 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I can't articulate the various ways this is demented. In short, it seems designed to further escalate tensions between jews and others. Do the recipients not see it, or do they think they can manage it? Is this normal FEMA business to drop millions of dollars for private security? A government department which has engendered a lot of mistrust and enmity over the years.

It's hard for me to imagine this funding doing anything at all to prevent the kinds of concerning events they've listed as instigators.

All faith-based institutions were eligible to apply for grant funding to help defend themselves from threats including houses of worship, educational facilities, medical facilities, community centers and other faith-based institutions.

Is this even limited to Jewish orgs or is it actually a way of funding Christian churches and related orgs?

[–] OnceUponATimeInWeHo@hexbear.net 15 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

An analysis of the ADL’s stats found that the majority of actual antisemitism they counted came from white nationalist groups (and was still undercounting those incidents). Nevertheless, we’re never going to see a crackdown on Patriot Front or the GDL because religious bigotry is encouraged these days. “Antisemitism” as a term is only used to shut down pro-Palestine actors. Also I’d assume Judaism is the only faith included at the end, it would be weird to funnel money to Christian institutions via antisemitism rather than just saying “we’re protecting America’s churches”

[–] hellinkilla@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is really useful, thanks

I don't think the article actually did it, so I re ran the headline math:

  • 2022 instances: 3,697 prior year source (this number increased by 1 when it was quoted next year)

  • 2023 instances: 8,873

  • original calculation: (8,873-3,697) / 3,697 * 100 = 140% 🢁

revised

  • 2023 instances found by JC to be unambiguously anti semetic: 4,948
  • revised calculation: (4,948-3,697) / 3,697 * 100 = 33% 🢁

So there was still an increase of 1/3 which is not nothing.

The article suggests that it would be fair to include white nationalist and white supremacist incidents that didn't specify anything about Jewish people:

If we added the additional White Supremacist Propaganda and White Supremacist Events entries that were not originally included in the antisemitism audit to the ADL’s overall count, it would bring the total number of antisemitic incidents to 15,564. Since we found that most alleged antisemitic incidents in the Palestine solidarity movement lacked merit, the legitimately antisemitic Palestine-related incidents would appear as mere statistical noise when compared with the stunning growth of organized white nationalism.

  • revised calculation to include white nationalist: (4,948-3,697) / 3,697 * 100 = 321% 🢁

With this criteria, the increase is much more dramatic. It would of course call into question certain alliances.

I also see that there is a 2024 report published April 2025. I would like to see an analysis from JC on that. By ADL's own metrics, looks like things have cooled off substantially:

In 2024, ADL tabulated 9,354 antisemitic incidents across the United States. This represents a 5% increase from the 8,873 incidents recorded in 2023

[–] OnceUponATimeInWeHo@hexbear.net 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yeah of course, when a state claiming to represent jewish people worldwide does genocide, a lot of people will take them at face value and some will act on it. But a 30 percent increase doesn't hit the same in a headline compared to DHS's cited figure: "In 2024, the ADL said it recorded a record high of 9,354 antisemitic incidents in the U.S., marking a 344% increase over the past five years. " and it especially doesn't hit the same if you're blaming conservatives and nazis instead of pro palestine activists

[–] WrongOnTheInternet@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago

It's been in place for decades

[–] ziggurter@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Are they counting stuff from the establishment and mainstream news (rhetorical; of course they're not)? Because a huge portion of pro-zionist shit is absolutely antisemitic (all the times they conflate Judaism and zionism/Israel, imply Israel represents all Jews, etc.).

[–] OnceUponATimeInWeHo@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well by that logic, this declaration itself would be added to the 2025 pile

[–] ziggurter@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Agreed. But not so sure on the:

Anyone playing into the “spike in antisemitism” smear is covering for Zionist genocide, intentionally or unintentionally

...part that you added. There has been an increase in antisemitism. Partly because Israel and Jews have simply been being talked about more, and antisemites do predictably be reactin' as a result, and partly because zionism has been being pushed HARD in tandem with the genocide, and the zionism caries with it a pretty big component of antisemitism. There is a spike in the authentic stuff. It just looks nothing like the zionist narrative is trying to make it look like. So I think it's good to be a little cautious about making this kind of generalized statement (I guess the "smear" part might help to differentiate, but...IDK, maybe it'd help to be a little more explicit?). A lot of very cool anti-zionist Jews are in this fight, and deserve the solidarity inherent in recognizing the reaction against them. Like when 30% of those arrested for pro-Palestine activism in Germany are/were Jewish....

[–] OnceUponATimeInWeHo@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yes, as I said, there is a legitimate increase in antisemitism, mostly from white nationalist sources, that will never actually be addressed. Nevertheless, anyone bringing up the specific phrase “spike in antisemitism” is referring to the 300+% ADL figure (rather than the realistic 30% increase) and has less than 0 interest in cracking down on the far right antisemites.

Could you get me a source for the 30% of arrested protestors in Germany being Jewish?

Ultimately, I’m not sure of your point. I acknowledged an increase in antisemitism, but the alleged “spike” and its media coverage has only one purpose: to smear pro-Palestinian voices and activism as anti-Jewish.
