Those low points are interesting. I wonder what causes them.
For the one around Xmas, I assume it’s to do with hospitals not being open so anything scheduled, like induced labor or c-section, would be delayed around it.. same with new years. And I guess 4th of July? But if that’s the cause, why not the other federal holidays?
(I’m assuming this is US data just by the negative spike in July and the habit of births being scheduled and induced)
Yeah, hospitals will schedule around holidays. You can see Xmas, new years, 4th of July, Halloween, and Thanksgiving (unlabeled). I assume those are the only holidays that would realistically keep a doctor away from the hospital.
This is correct to my knowledge. I think those are the most pronounced ones because they are the most likely holiday days to be actually fully taken off nationally.
