Yeah Lucas was quite blunt that the empire was the USA and the rebels where the viet cong.
I once had a coworker. He was a nice, friendly and intelligent guy. He was also a massive Star Wars fan, he would decorate his desk with Star Wars memorabilia, he bought an expensive Darth Vader costume for a company costume party. You would expect him to know everything three is to know about the damn thing.
He had never heard anything about the rebels being the Viet Cong. In fact he had never heard about the Viet Cong. It was all just consumerist apolitical slop to him.
I suspect there are many people like him. People do not want their favourite IP to be "tainted" by real-world political connections that might make someone mad. They want the world to be a safe soft play area where all you have to have to disagree with people about is whether one serving of slop is better than the other.
An adult who didn't know about the Vietnam War?
A well-educated professional adult nonetheless.
I read somewhere once that he hated his rich neighbors so he bought a bunch of houses and gave them away to poor people to annoy them
i dunno if this is true but i hope it is
He did iirc, I remember red letter media mentioning it (as a bad thing though).
from what I heard he wanted to expand Skywalker Ranch and the county wouldn't let him, so he managed a way to make the parcel public housing out of spite. but hey good things for petty reasons I will still approve
oh that’s less cool but public housing is public housing
