"I'd like to see those people replace it with a utopia without any problematic means"

Regardless of the fact that the rebellion didn't replace the empire with a utopia, only resurrected the bourgeouis parliamentary republic that created the empire and would end up collapsing in like 30 years...

They also did incredibly violent "problematic" acts, especially in this show. Did this dipshit actually watch it?

Media literacy is one of the must underrated skills in navigating this liberal hellscape.

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 74 points 1 month ago (3 children)

You know how the first thing communists usually do is teach people how to read and write? We're gonna have to do that but for satire

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 46 points 1 month ago (3 children)

This is called a non-fiction book. It's like Hunger Games, but written for big kids.

the lack of media literacy is an underrated defense mechanism

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 44 points 1 month ago (2 children)

We just need to get rid of Palpatine and get Thrawn in there, he's smart

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 40 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I personally support Tarkin, he's the moderate we need over Vader.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 27 points 1 month ago

He's the *good* fascist! so-true

[–] Castor_Troy@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think this goes deeper than media illiteracy. This looks like media illiteracy plus brainworms

as always, the job of the reddit mod is to as aggressively as possible limit, punish, and censor for antiamerikkkan sentiments.

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago

This post is devolving into an anti American attack

My brother in Christ, Lucas himself specified that the Empire was to represent the literal US. The show you are moderating a subreddit for is about people involved in an insurrection against it.

[–] micnd90@hexbear.net 61 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If amerikkka so good, why didn't they defeat the Nazis and flew the stars and stripes over the reichstag?

Why did he make the tattoo look like an ugly-ass patch if he didn't intend to evoke the military, then? Obvious backpedaling is obvious.

mf watched andor and thought "woah empire is so cool"

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 46 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Yeah Lucas was quite blunt that the empire was the USA and the rebels where the viet cong.

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I once had a coworker. He was a nice, friendly and intelligent guy. He was also a massive Star Wars fan, he would decorate his desk with Star Wars memorabilia, he bought an expensive Darth Vader costume for a company costume party. You would expect him to know everything three is to know about the damn thing.

He had never heard anything about the rebels being the Viet Cong. In fact he had never heard about the Viet Cong. It was all just consumerist apolitical slop to him.

I suspect there are many people like him. People do not want their favourite IP to be "tainted" by real-world political connections that might make someone mad. They want the world to be a safe soft play area where all you have to have to disagree with people about is whether one serving of slop is better than the other.

I read somewhere once that he hated his rich neighbors so he bought a bunch of houses and gave them away to poor people to annoy them

i dunno if this is true but i hope it is

I wished Saw Gerrera was real to see this shit and put down this lib.

[–] CommunistBear@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago

Saw Gerrera did nothing wrong

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 39 points 1 month ago (1 children)

At least most of the comments are dragging them

How actually devoid of thought do you have to be to get something like this lmao

Like cops with Punisher tats

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 38 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Honestly I think this is worse than cops with punisher tats. That has a perverse consistency, that cops should be state-sanctioned and state-funded vigilantes but without state-oversight. It’s just the state violence version of the conservative mindset that the regulatory state exists for thee not for me.

This, this is just “the rebellion gives me the warm and fuzzies and American nationalism gives me the warm and fuzzies so they must be the same.” It’s all vibes zero analysis.

Amerikkka is the most powerful Empire in history, whose astronomical military budget is without peer, that is constantly bombing poor brown folks, is somehow the Rebel faction in the Star Wars universe? Chuds really are dense.

Not sure what's worse, people who think America is the rebellion or Americans who unironically say "the Empire did nothing wrong". At least the latter are being honest I guess.

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 32 points 1 month ago (2 children)

lol what is with the decision to make a tattoo look like a embroidered patch.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 27 points 1 month ago

Yeah, the nice thing about patches is that they can be removed

Technically, you could remove this, but it would take a powerful laser or cheese grater to do so

So, what do people think: Is this a sincere 18 year old, misguided by propaganda or a shameless attempt by the military to fellow-kids media illiterate youth into joining up?

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago

That the ugliest tattoo I have ever seen
