The capital letters imply "1488" and the post is 14 words long, both of which are well-known nazi dog whistles.

Isn't that 1884? Seems like a bit of a stretch, but a triumphalist painting complete with Indians fleeing into shadow from the advancing white people (a heritage to be proud of, apparently) is definitely in poor taste at best.

"poor taste"?

Yeahs, a bit of an understatement.

In case you haven't, check out what the words "manifest destiny" meant back then.

You can even see the same illustration; American Progress (1872) by John Gast

Sure, but seems about right given the intelligence of your typical white supremacist. I think the number of words, capital H, A and Ds, content of the post, posting organization, and political context make a Nazi dogwhistle the Occam's razor-approved best explanation.

Huh, that could be it:

The year 1884 is significant as it marks the birth of Anton Drexler, a German far-right politician who founded the German Workers' Party, which later became the Nazi Party. Drexler played a crucial role in the early development of Nazi ideology and mentored Adolf Hitler.

Yeah,

  • 14 words in the post, an allusion to a notorious Nazi formula
  • 1884, birth year of Anton Drexler, a far-right politician who founded what later became the Nazi Party
  • 1488 and 88, notorious Hitler-related numerology
  • Painting showing Manifest Destiny and a bunch of other white people chasing Native Americans into darkness

I think we can safely conclude that Homeland Security are deliberately sending Nazi dogwhistles on their social media.
