It's not always the foreigner who stealing it tho. Sometimes it's the natives (thieves) who stealing the artifacts to sell, even as souvenirs on the street.
Egyptian thieves even sell mummy as souvenirs.
There even used to be a pigment sold to painters made from the ground up flesh of mummies.
We have been doomed as a species since forever eh?
Maybe that’s why this whole timeline seems cursed.
