Dumb Bullshit, medical stuff, UnjustDepthsPosting IdkIt's slightly disquieting that in Unjust Depths' Union, as of 959 AD, parents still have the final say in whether or not their kids get blockers or hormones... haha yeah man, just like in real life, right omori-miserable

I've really been enjoying that Depths is pretty much a fantasy setting where transphobia is borderline extinct, so this line of thinking during this flashback was like... ow, man, fuck. Why niko-tear-wipe Easily the most depressing beat yet. My immediate reaction was that I wanted to punch Deshnov or whatever his name is in the throat. 'Let you get on those medications', fuck off and die old man, what no materialism and supporting the previous regime does to a mf...

yeah...sadness he really sucks. murati deserved better, but it's great seeing she's always been so committed to this

spoiler this is an unimportant non-spoiler about the union legal system mentioned later with slightly more detail on this topic it's made clear that the union is making an effort here, bodily autonomy is enshrined in the constitution (including the right to hrt, which is i think what murati was talking about) and there are pretty simple ways for children to emancipate themselves if their parents are reactionaries (like if they deny the child hrt) so if he had denied her hrt she would have had options :::

Unimportant non-spoiler stuff!!Ugh it's true, I love Murati so so so much especially for this flashback. I bitch and gripe about Navy Dad but it's actually a splendid scene generally. Surprisingly enough I want more kidlet Murati after this, the whole thing tugged a heartstring somewhere in me.

I read this unimportant non-spoiler - since it's in a flashback I had wondered about progress being made. I can't be too critical of the Union because having trans rights & such in your constitution is unfathomably based, so I'm glad to hear it's not so bad. Reactionary parents get the undersea wall :)

murati!murati really starts shining after the first intermission, yeah. she's such a good protagonist, especially for this type of story

yeah, i won't get into more details since the way we learn about that stuff WOULD be a spoiler (if a relatively minor one), but i really like the direction it goes and what we learn about the union. it's definitely not a perfect place, but it's consistently trying and mostly sticks the landing, which is worth a lot

I look forward to discovering more on my way to catching up rat-salute
