I lived in a decent area, grew up comfortable, but my house was always really messy growing up and it was always a source of embarrassment and shame for me

Stuff falling apart etc...

Love my mom and stepdad but the man was at least a semi hoarder

I grew up similar and I never learned to clean properly. Still can't figure it out today. It's embarrassing

Yeah I was never wanting for food or entertainment. My suburban house was always just a mess.

I clean up okay now, and I love my stepdad, but it's embarrassing bringing girls to meet my parents because... yeah... he's kind of a slob.

Like broken boards? Instead of putting them in the garage or trash, he'd leave them leaning out front against the garage door

And or course the asshole neighbors would call the city
