On this day, 4 years ago the site was first launched (then a day later the first post made), Formed from chapotraphouse remnants, the old admins decided to make a site using Lemmy as its base. Originally called chapo.chat, Hexbear has grown into one of the biggest instances in the lemmyverse.
Despite various sitewide struggle sessions, wrecker incursions from other forums and federation drama, Hexbear has keep growing strong in its 4th year, now with 4 megathreads, over 4 million comments, 300k posts and much more.
Its being great running the general megathread for a bit over 3 years, since i took over i have tried to get it mostly in time and just one unlike during the old times, i like to think i have done a decent job, plus i have also added a bit of reading material to them so you nerds can learn from them and i like to think you have been reading them 
, its also nice to see the new megathreads how they have slowing grown up to the size to the old general mega in the time of the old admins.

recently on chapo they mentioned something about the conservatives being idiots with something about Kamala and throat goat. what the fuck is the deal with the allusions to Kamala and oral sex? is it related to this Hawk Tua thing?
I tried to search for anti-Kamala stuff with "Kamala sucks" and that was a mistake
Conservatives are claiming she slept her way to the top, which got turned into memes about her giving blowjobs. I'm not sure what that rumor is based on other than pure sexism.
she did have a relationship with Willie Brown who appointed her to her first two state jobs, one of which she was not eligible by statute to hold, but conservatives of course had to make it about sex in a sexist way
this is what gets me about the whole "DEI hire" line that conservatives are trotting out. They're obviously trying to be racist and sexist, but when you get down to it there was no reason for Brandon to pick her in particular for VP other than to inject some desperately needed non-old, non-white, non-man -ness into the ticket. He didn't need her to get California, nor did she have the popularity in the primary that would necessitate a VP pick to grab that support, nor did they even have an existing rapport after her attacks in the debate
yeah it's like an irritating kernel of truth in their hateful output, a tinge of "right for the wrong reasons"
I mean "black woman" was explicitly his criteria, but it's very frustrating because the fact that it was white men only for over 300 years is because black people and women were explicitly ruled out, but that's not a problem because it's taken for granted to be normal.
