Lol, one can certainly say the uniforms are not creating significant aerodynamic drag, that is true.
Not for aerodynamics but they are comfortable and unrestrictive, players can absolutely choose to wear less revealing clothes, but it would genuinely put them at a minor disadvantage.
They were blocked from wearing less revealing clothing, because it meant less people would watch.
In that case, that should tell that to the male runners.
