It is scientifically proven, that our biological ancestors left the ocean because they were scared out of their minds from what else lurks in the sea.

I read that in Werner Herzog's voice.

Shout out to Encounters at the End of the World, for those who haven't seen it.

I found someones old internet shrine about them a few weeks ago, they really are crazy interesting. And definitely of the cosmic horror variety lol

There’s nothing to fear about a big fin squid they just want to hug you

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Isn’t it the Humboldt squid that goes after people?

[–] galoisghost@aussie.zone 9 points 6 months ago

Well technically a bigfin squid has never met a human, but you know those 4-8 metre long arms are just made for hugging so if they ever did meet one that lucky human is in for one big squish.

Oh, but there is. Mainly in that, based on what we know about them, which is very little, that is an infant.

How to create successful cosmic horror:

Step 1: Dive deep into the sea (in a bathyscaphe).

Step 2: ???

Step 3: Profit.

If you're into videogames and like this post, Subnautica might be what you're looking for.
