“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

Fight back with random Starship Troopers quotes.

Dizzy: My mother always told me that violence doesn't solve anything.

Jean Rasczak: Really? I wonder what the city founders of Hiroshima would have to say about that.

[to Carmen] Jean Rasczak: You.

Carmen: They wouldn't say anything. Hiroshima was destroyed.

Jean Rasczak: Correct. Naked force has resolved more conflicts throughout history than any other factor. The contrary opinion, that violence doesn't solve anything, is wishful thinking at its worst. People who forget that always die.

I thought I removed the bible verse.

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” Matthew 24:35

Huh, weird.

[–] FiniteBanjo 1 points 6 months ago

If that were in the starship troopers novel from 1959 it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Depends on the topic. Like when cloning comes up, people tend not to Bible thump; instead they explain that we shouldn't do it because they saw a movie about a fully automated theme park featuring dinosaurs.

You know... evidence!

[–] Sotuanduso@lemm.ee 19 points 6 months ago (2 children)

The Bible says we should live like Christ, and Christ was God, and God created life, so why shouldn't we? /hj

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 9 points 6 months ago

Hold up, so the dude whining about the whole "preoccupied with could, never thought about should" was just talking out of his ass?? We're literally biblically obligated to clone those raptors! YES we should!

It's half-joking. Probably the least useful tone indicator. Like, what half are you joking about?

[–] Sotuanduso@lemm.ee 5 points 6 months ago

I was thinking heisenjoker, but that works too.

"There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses." - Ezekiel 23:20

I had to search it. It's a real quote: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=ezekiel%2023:20&version=NIV

If anyone is curious about its interpretation:

The lewd image here is meant to be striking and to promote disgust at the lust of the Jews after the ways of their slavery in Egypt, as though Egypt had been the abusive lover of her adulterous youth.

If that verse was trying to create a sense of revulsion, it could not have failed more badly.

[–] Nounka@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

Exept for the bestiality idee ... I lust for that first part to...

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 39 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Clippy is a rat bastard.

You know it, I know it. Even Microsoft knew it.

[–] Assman@sh.itjust.works 21 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Fuck clippy. Power Pup was the real office assistant.

[–] spamfajitas@lemmy.world 33 points 6 months ago (2 children)

No one even remembers Merlin

[–] Sotuanduso@lemm.ee 15 points 6 months ago

I remember Merlin. I miss that cast of characters.

[–] refalo@programming.dev 4 points 6 months ago

Is Power Pup the one who would leave paw prints on the screen?

[–] Assman@sh.itjust.works 29 points 6 months ago

Did you hear about the time when Mary Magdalene tracked dirt in the house? Jesus swept.

[–] Worx@lemmynsfw.com 6 points 6 months ago

I don't need religion to spout off about things I know nothing about

[–] The_Tired_Horizon@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

See this with brands now too. People who think YTers have sold out post a rant. One guy yesterday ranted at the guy about endorsing a "scam" about a product that actually worked. Doesnt have to just be science now, it can be anything objective. Anything that actually works. People are scared of trusting any due process.

[–] lowleveldata@programming.dev 1 points 6 months ago

Yes. What are the options?
