Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

It's honestly hilarious how small the conservative footprint on the internet is - while absolutely awful and hateful... 3 million followers, really? I know niche content creators with bigger followings.

Edit: As an example - cooking recipes from old cookbooks (i.e. Dylan Hollis) has three times the audience.

They're a very vocal minority.

Are you referring to Jan 6 alone or are there other examples?

[–] irreticent@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

"There were a large number of far right killings and car attacks at Black Lives Matter demonstrations in 2020."

[–] OccamsRazer@lemmy.world -2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Kind of weird to reference Kyle Rittenhouse after being exonerated, not to mention the antifa guy who shot and killed a counter protester, and was later killed by police. Like what exactly does that prove?

[–] irreticent@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

You asked if there were any examples other than J6. I provided examples. I don't understand your confusion.

[–] OccamsRazer@lemmy.world 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I guess maybe you didn't read the article very closely, but those are terrible examples.

"Are you referring to Jan 6 alone or are there other examples?"

Other examples. Not good examples, you asked for "other examples." I provided other examples. Now you're trying to move the goalposts and say the examples aren't good enough?

[–] OccamsRazer@lemmy.world -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Oh sorry I guess I should have clarified that I was looking for bad examples.

Unite the Reich in Charlottesville VA.

And that's actually a problem. We tend to form most opinions on what is "normal" based on exposure repetitions, and not on quality. A vocal minority of 3 million with a direct line of view of 100 million will substantially shift the Overton window despite being a minority.

Even really niche content like LockPickingLawyer on YouTube has nearly 4.5 million followers. And I actively see people referencing him. Libs of Tik Tok really only pops up in articles like this.

Of course, I also don’t really hang out in places where fans of it might congregate. But from my perspective it’s just not something that seems to have a large influence.

They consolidate into Truth Social and only stray from Republican focused groups long enough to jab Biden, hoping to convince opponents that they shouldn’t vote.

Did anyone see that interview with Taylor Lorenz? Chaya's so dumb. This anti-LGBT stuff is her bread and butter and she doesn't know a damn thing about it.

Well yeah knowing about people only makes being a professional bigot harder.

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Got a link?

[–] arin@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago

Ah like the state government laws in red political states?

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Her jawline makes her look like she does a shit ton of stimulants.

[–] Riccosuave@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

Yeah, she's got that fucking Johnny Bravo phenotype.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

Dont do my boy Johnny dirty like that.

[–] Riccosuave@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

I'm sorry champ. I like Johnny Bravo too, and I kinda regret my comparison now 😅

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 6 months ago

I hate her so much.
