On this day in 2013, Turkish protesters began occupying Gezi Park to oppose its demolition, an act with led to widespread protests and strikes with approximately 3,500,000 participants, 22 deaths, and more than 8,000 injuries.

The wave of civil unrest across Turkey began after the park occupation was violently evicted by police, who used to tear gas, pepper spray, and water cannons to try and break up the protests, injuring more than one hundred people and hospitalizing a journalist.

The protest quickly grew in size - by May 31st, 10,000 gathered in Istiklal Avenue. In June, the protests became national in scope and transcended any particular demographic or political ideology. Among the wide range of concerns brought by protesters were issues of freedom of the press, expression, and assembly, as well as the alleged political Islamist government's erosion of Turkey's secularism.

Millions of Turkish football fans, normally divided by intense sports rivalry, marched in unity against the government. Protesters displayed symbols the environmentalist movement, rainbow banners, depictions of Che Guevara, different trade unions, and the PKK and its leader Abdullah Öcalan.

On June 4th, Taksim Dayanışması (Taksim Solidarity) issued a set of demands that included the preservation of Gezi Park, an end to police violence, the right to freedom of assembly, and an end to the privatization of public spaces. Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç met the group on June 5th and rejected these demands.

Erdoğan blamed the protests on "internal traitors and external collaborators", demonizing his political opposition as the former. Despite the popular mobilization, Erdoğan remained in power and no major concessions were won from the government.

finished SIGNALIS last week and i'd say that i'm mixed on it. I didn't like the main gameplay and this was my first survival horror experience so it might be a skill issue on my part. I didn't like the extremely limited inventory, constant back tracking, and that the zombies revived themselves after a while so it made killing them pointless on a blind playthrough. I understand that that's kinda baked into the genre tho. I'm gonna regret buying all those resident evil remasters on sale now lol

The aesthetics, graphics, and vibes were excellent and tense. I also liked the puzzles, especially the radio frequency puzzles. The story was told pretty convolutely, but i was engaged the whole time. The worldbuilding told through notes and other papers was pretty intriguing and interesting, but the anti-communism was pretty cringe.

so gameplay 6/10 for me, overall aesthetic and story 8/10

🚨ATTENTION ALL SWIFTIES!!🚨

Sources say Taylor will soon be announcing a novella based on Red! Apparently, one chapter will be based on a scrapped song written for Red about Taylor's maternal grandmother, AKA "Ma O". Google "little red book ma o" to see more 😃

god my stamina for any kind of sustained creative writing is in the fucking toilet. ive lost all sense of how to plan a script or story out, how to reorient myself with where i left off when i open the doc, where to put my outline docs vs the actual working project, etc etc. and the fact that i have to be at a computer to do it fucking sucks, its where all of my hollow distractions are, just beckoning to me. and i already sit at a desk in front of a fucking screen doing the most mind numbing bullshit so i can eat over half the week. same goes for d&d writing, i used to have a system in google drive but now even hunting down the docs i need let alone doing actual creative work is just such a massive bottleneck. i wish id had more help growing up w my executive dysfunction issues or something. like someone or something to teach me how to make good processes that work for me.

One of the things i rlly think abt is that with less awareness i used to have a lot more guff to post ridiculous absurd shit, and since i deleted a few leddit accounts without wiping out their posts any llm that uses leddit data has a slim but nonzero chance of regurgitating some startling screed about a stupid book nobodys ever heard of that was written by an autistic child who yaps too much

@trompete@hexbear.net got around to the train stuff. Honestly, main issue I have at this point is how train infrastructure is so big that it causes me to sprawl more, which means I gotta build more defenses. A little annoying. But I love how easy the signals are!

I work at a decently sized company and one of their suppliers is israeli. Should i start some sort of petition? I feel like if i do it's not gonna go anywhere anyway. I also have no experience whatsoever organizing.

I hate Firefox's Ctrl-H history feature. It's useless. I pretty sure it doesn't actually sort by date really, even though it claims to do so. I'm trying to figure out where I left off on some youtube series and it's all in some random order. This has happened many times.
