Remember when last year Australia panicked because a source fell off a truck? That was a 0.3 Curie source.

I wouldn't exactly say "any technician" can operate this with "minimal instruction".

This is the same company that created radiation therapy machines that kill you. I don’t think they thought too deeply about safety.

It was a long running and apparently well used research device. It was discontinued in 2008.
