Lol this would actually be legal in germany. If you are severely disabled you can get a prescription prostitute paid for by your healthcare provider. Makes sense if you ask me, everyone need some human connection.

article from the Wikipedia footnotes with a success story involving a 30 year old virgin IT guy. might be interesting for the wider lemmy userbase (affectionate) https://www.salon.com/2003/10/08/virgin_6/

Hard to believe it's legal in the US though (even the regular therapist in the article didn't believe it initially).

The link explains the process. And if you are severely disabled, it might be a way for you to have an experience that every adult that wants to should be able to experience at some point in their life with a consenting partner. That is an incredible psychological tool.

Sex work is already stigmatized enough, but this isn't even sex work where an adult simply wants to pay for sex. This is sex work combined with psychotherapy designed to aid in a patient who is having severe psychological problems due to mental or physical trauma or both.

This was a good one, completely unexpected. Someone once emailed feedback that one of my coworkers deserved hookers and blow for doing such a great job. My blow is also prescribed, thanks.
