TBF this is basically every not-great-looking male lead.

I've always gotten women way out of my league because they like my personality, and they say I'm a nice person and they feel safe with me. Guys, women have the bar set pretty dam low. Just use active listening, actually care about them beyond just their body, respect them, and it helps to have fun, interesting hobby, and to really like animals. Like that's it, fellas. I'm in my late 30s, and my last girlfriend was in her mid-20s and way outta my league. Now it didn't work because we are at different points in our lives, but that's nbd.

Or are you just selling your looks short?

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

dude have you never seen couples? gorgeous women go out with totally average looking dudes all the time.

[–] VelvetStorm@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Lol no I'm short and fat. I have a realistic view of myself.

[–] tegs_terry@feddit.uk 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, but how can I trust that assessment if you are lowballing your looks? I think we should see. Draw a photorealistic picture of yourself and upload, and I can judge.

Lmao. I wasn't expecting a reply.

[–] yum@lemmy.eco.br 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I agree with you on that, but I usually get stuck in the just friends portion of the whole thing. Maybe I am a little too ugly?

[–] VelvetStorm@lemmy.world 11 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Nah, the thing is, you need to declare your intentions fairly early on. Like with in the first few times you hang out.

You could have just used his picture

It's'a me, Adam a'Sandler. Woopido doooooo'a!

[–] Underwaterbob@lemm.ee 24 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's a real-life thing. Look at any comedic actor from the past fifty years, and then image search up a picture of their wife. The discrepancy in physical attractiveness is almost always glaring. Humor (and money) is attractive.

Pete Davidson looks like a homeless drug addict and he dated Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale and Emily Ratajkowski.

The exception: Little Nicky

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 16 points 3 months ago

The love interest in Little Nicky wasnt Patricia Arquette, but Popeye's Chicken.

[–] AquaTofana@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Easily my favorite Adam Sandler movie.

[–] ValorieAF@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's so stupid, but it has its moments

[–] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

The best moment is between the opening credits and the closing credits

[–] NaoPb@eviltoast.org 14 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (5 children)

For some reasimon I've never seen any one of his movies besides Happy Gilmore.

[edit] what the hell is a reasimon? I meant to type reason in case that wasn't clear.

[–] pedestrian@links.hackliberty.org 6 points 3 months ago (3 children)

A good follow up to that is uncut gems

[–] MonkeMischief 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

What about The Cobbler? That one was unexpectedly charming.

Click was SO GOOD.

But I'm still a little mad at the betrayal by the marketing, making it seem super silly and goofy, leaving my young self unprepared for an emotional gut-punch. Lol

It effectively did what it set out to do though, being a modern fable about where our priorities in life ultimately lead us. I think of it often, especially the way it portrays the trap of career-worship, and when I catch myself wishing time away.

That silly movie had so much heart it might have actually shaped my young worldview a bit. Lol

Movie was based.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

I completely agree! Idk how Sandler was able to convey so much emotion in such a silly movie, but he did an outstanding job.

He’s Woody Allen with the pseudointellectual posturing replaced with grossout gags

[–] VelvetStorm@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

Let's not compare him to a child molester.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 18 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I don't think his characters tend to have as much money as he does

Jack and Jill was the weirdest one because it's Adam Sandler falling in love with Adam Sandler in a wig.

[–] OozingPositron@feddit.cl 11 points 3 months ago

Wasn't it Al Pacino falling for Jill? And I think Jill was Adam's sister or something like that.

[–] blanketswithsmallpox@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Homies Adam Sandler is probably better looking than every one of you, richer, funnier, and isn't making shit memes making fun about people's looks he doesn't even know.

At least Jack and Jill gave people jobs lol.

The man is one of the funniest people defining the millenial's generation.
